Great location and great team:) There was always someone to talk to and always something to do. the hostel that you share with other volunteers is cozy and you also get some basic ingredients in addition to great breakfast. Work can be demanding because it involves cleaning the toilets and carrying cleaning supplies and sheets up and down many stairs.. but you always get a break and coffee and help from other workers:)

It was my first time volunteering, and I had a great time! The tasks aren't difficult and the working hours are respected. There are many benefits such as free breakfast & lunch, free drinks and free laundry. The environment at the hostel is nice and everyone is super friendly. Hostel the hostel is a great place to socialize and meet people from all over the world. I would definitely recommend volunteering at this hostel!!

Welcoming and warm environment, with kind staff. Good spot to socialise with guests from a variety of backgrounds. The volunteering work was reasonable and the perks were generous.

Really enjoyed the experience! The staff is very nice, met really nice people :) I'm really happy for this month and half i passed here, thank you. Also be prepared for a physical job, it can drain your energies the first days until you get used to, but then it's fine.

Thanks for your nice review Eduardo. You were a great addition to the team. It can be quite heavy on busy days but it’s always enjoyable I hope working as part of the team.

I've stayed there 3 weeks in April with 4 other nice volunteers. You have some advantages like toasties, breakfast, free bike, free drinks and Sam is nice person but the work is really exhausting, I never get used to it, people have to take a nap after the work. Also it was hard to have a good night there with a lot of noices and light in the basement. I felt like it was not worth it, I couldn't enjoy Rotterdam. Also the first day we had to take off the hair of all the showers, inside the tube, but this should be for a paid job. In general you feel like working harder than the workers :)

I was sad to see such a low score, though I appreciate you sharing your perspective. It’s always best to raise things during your stay. We’re glad you enjoyed the volunteer group and the extras, though sorry the work felt overly tiring. We try to be clear about the physical side but will reflect on your points. It’s also a shame the sleeping setup didn’t suit you—we’re always making improvements. Wishing you all the best with future travels.

Although I consider myself open and socially active, I found it hard to truly connect with the place and the people. That said, I genuinely enjoyed my time in Rotterdam, mainly thanks to the friendships I built outside. The food provided is quite limited, so it's good to plan for extra expenses. The accommodation could also be improved, a proper the hostel would be more comfortable than a basement space with exposed pipes and a small window. Additionally, the proximity to the guest kitchen means you'll often notice the smell of food being prepared. Still, I'm thankful for the time spent there.

Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s a shame that some aspects, like the accommodation and food, didn’t work out as we hoped. We strive to make everyone’s experience enjoyable. We also did our best to cater to your vegan diet, reaching out for feedback but receiving limited response. That said, we appreciate your input and will keep it in mind as we continue to improve. We’re grateful for the time you spent with us!
