My experience at the Hare Krishna Temple was mixed. I've been traveling for over a year and this was my 8th volunteering (all others 5 stars). Communication between host and volunteers needs improvement, and the person managing the app isn't the same as the host, so arrivals are unclear. The gardener was very impatient and even pushed me, which made things difficult. On the positive side: amazing volunteers, delicious food, a quiet atmosphere, and beautiful countryside life.

The property is beautiful and most people are very welcoming and friendly. There is a daily meeting everyday where you are assigned your job so you always know what you will be doing which is good. Communication could be a lot better. I was waiting an hour to be collected from the bus station when I arrived. I was not given a tour of the property, only shown my room and had to rely on other volunteers to explain and show everything to me. There is an older lady living there who is very rude to volunteers. I had to leave the experience early as there was a death in my family.

A peaceful oasis to learn about krishna consciousness, explore the french forest, and paris too if you want. the work was good and fair- definitely hot if you come in the summer. my favorite part was working in the garden with jaladuta. he taught me a lot about plants and people and if you get a chance to sit down on a flower pot and talk while pulling some weeds with him- take it! as someone who came to contribute to food sustainability/to learn, i was a little disappointed to find that my tasks would mainly involve tending to flowers to be used for their spirituality. thank you the eco village

Great and beautiful experience. Lots of lovely people in this community. Overall recommend. I would say that this village isn't as eco as I thought. You will get in trouble if you don't eat all your food. I often felt pressured to get involved with the spiritual side of things, eg being told that coming to dinner and not attending the meditation beforehand was “not so good”. I also felt a lot of sexism here with people commenting if I wasn't covered up enough even outside the property! Also I was told that I was a “weak woman” who couldn't do the work properly. The tasks and hours were 👍

Volunteering at the eco village was peaceful and rewarding. The community is kind, the food is delicious, and the spiritual atmosphere is unique. Tasks are fair and varied. It's ideal for those seeking simplicity, mindfulness, and a break from busy life.

I personally would not return or recommend for people looking to explore or travel as this area was very secluded. The closest village was 1 hr and 15 mins away by walking and they say you can get a ride but it it difficult to coordinate that. If you're into Krishna this place is perfect for you but if you're looking for more of a work exchange for travel or experience I'd skip it. Also chanting in the morning is mandatory, and they don't give enough fruit. Not vegan friendly but good vegetarian meals.

It was a great experience, it really helped me improve my English, and it was really nice to be exposed to a new culture. It's far from the cities. The food was very different for me because it's mostly Indian, but since we could choose from a good variety of options, I was able to pick the ones I liked the most. It was really nice to learn more about Hare Krishna and participate in some ceremonies. One thing I didn't like was the fact that we had two shifts: one in the morning and one in the afternoon, which made it feel like a full day of work, even though we only worked for five hours.
