My time here was really made by the interns and people living in the community who are so kind and funny. It's a very beautiful place made clearly by a lot of hard work. The hours are long (about 42 a week in Canecas) but because my stay fell on some national holidays I got some extra days off. You will be in a shared dorm with possibly up to 5 other people. For girls the closest toilet is a dry one outside and the showers are in the laundry room which I do think were a little misrepresented in the photos on here. If you're veggie you cook your own food also :) I am glad for the experience

Volunteering at the organization was one the best travel experiences I have ever had. You can expect to work 5 days a week 8:30-6:30. But the days and weeks will fly by and before you know it you will feel like part of the family. Even with just 2 days off you can explore so much of Portugal (if you're willing to take some early and some late buses). Additionally, you will get to meet the most loving, kind, and supportive people . I could go on and on, but I'll just say this. If you're thinking about traveling to Portugal and volunteering at the organization, do it. You won't regret it, I promise :)

The organization is such a special place with beautiful, warm people. I felt so safe, comfortable, and happy here. The work was super manageable and fulfilling. And the community felt like home in my short time there. I've made so many memories that I'll treasure forever. 🩵

Volunteering at the organization was my first world packers experience and it was absolutely amazing. The work was so fulfilling and the people there were so welcoming and kind. I got to meet some amazing people while I was there and make an impact on the community. If you want to work hard to make a good contribution but also have a great time and meet amazing people, you should definitely volunteer here. Thank you Ophelie, Eva, and Umberto for everything you have done for me and everything you're doing for the community. I will miss everyone there dearly ❤️

It's incredible and very impressive at the same time how fast you feel like home there. I would call it the place of healing peace and development! The love and care which is facing you everyday makes you to feel rlly a part of something important. I feel helpful and meaningful at this place. You can be yourself there. So natural and unrestrained. My heart is getting full with inspiration and motivation for life there. Thank you the organization. You teached me a lot with your concept. I will come back!

My experience with the organization community has been wonderful, both in Caneças and Lisbon. Everybody made me feel at home, and I learnt many things about Portugal, social work and helping others. This experience made me realize that there are many people who are willing to help others, to donate and do their best every day. Ophelie, Eva and Humberto were the perfect hosts, funny and caring every time we were together. ❤️❤️

I spent a wonderful 25 nights with Ophelie, Eva and Humberto this November and it was an absolute delight! Each of them made myself and the other volunteers feel at home and welcome. The companions, despite the language barriers also made us feel so welcome in the Community in Canecas, many laughs were shared. The work itself was very rewarding, sorting through donations made for many fascinating discoveries and lots of laughs. It was also so lovely knowing that these quality items would be reaching those in need within the community.

This was truely such an amazing experience, Ophelie and the rest of team are absolutely wonderful and have the best local recommendations for your spare time too. I got to spend some time in both Lisbon and Caneças and I truely loved both. The companions at Caneças too are some of the loveliest people I have met and they keep you very well fed! All the work at both areas were pretty easy, mostly consisting of sorting through goods, labelling and pricing them as well as handing out flyers. This experience is such a good way to connect with locals, their culture and food!

I would definitely recommend staying at the organization! Ophelie was a really nice and welcoming host and I met some other really great people. I liked the work in the community as well as in the pop up because there was a lot of different tasks to do. The vibe was always good so I would love to come back some day to this place :)

Ophelie, Eva, and Humberto were really nice and supportive, making it a comfortable place to be. I spent my time at the popup store in Lisbon and also had a great visit to Caneças. I enjoyed taking care of the vintage antiques and books, as well as the plants. The schedule worked well—you have your mornings free to explore the city before heading back to work in the afternoon. I also learned about the organization community and connected with other travelers. We even had a free day where we drove to a surfing beach in Portugal together. It was a wonderful experience that I'd highly recommend!
