I volunteered here for about a month and really enjoyed the experience. The work was well organized, manageable, and the team was friendly and welcoming. Takayama is a beautiful city with a relaxed atmosphere, great walks, and lots of traditional charm. One of the best parts is how close it is to incredible nature and many natural onsens, which are perfect for relaxing on your days off. Overall, a great place to volunteer and experience a peaceful side of Japan.

The hostel is a good hostel and provides a cozy place to stay, the work is fair. There is a Karaoke room and Coworkingspace free for you to use and the food provided is nice. Takayama is a cute village, however there is not a lot to do there as a young Backpacker. I would recommend Takayama to people who enjoy it very calm.

The food is delicous and there is always enough. Most of the team is very relaxed and fun to be around. I wouln't recommend this place to soneone under 20 because they don't see you as an adult (like the japanese law) and in general the average age is more like 25-30 years old. Unfortunaly the community space is very restricted: there are places designated for guests which you must not use (those are the comfortable ones) and you have to leave the area at 10. This rule is only for one of the branches, so if you are lucky, you won't stay at that place but at an other.

The hostel is really a great place! The working hours are consistently respected, often even less than those on WP. The team is very friendly and makes an effort to ensure your stay is as enjoyable as possible. We were frequently allowed to use their bikes and other facilities typically reserved for guests. I had a really nice time there!

The volunteer experience went very well. I was warmly welcomed by the managers and other volunteers. The cleaning work is far from difficult, and the team gives volunteers time to learn on the job. The meals are nutritious and plentiful for everyone, thanks to the amazing chef Ratree! You can organize events with others and enjoy the region. Takayama is a nice little town, but with limited activities, so one month was just right. Thank you all for this wonderful first experience!
