The Experience

Since we are both a hostel and a bar, we need volunteers who are flexible and open to a variety of different tasks. Some of the things we need help with are reception, housekeeping, creating a nice atmosphere for guests, and helping out at the bar during events. If you have any special skills you would like to share with us, we are happy to hear about them!

I loved my time at the hostel. Rino is an amazing guy — super generous, always invested in your well-being, and always doing his best to ensure your time in Shkoder is enjoyable. The work is very easy (especially in the low season when the town gets very few tourists), but it gives you ample opportunity to explore Shkoder and relax. the hostel staff are also very nice and always willing to give you tips or advice for your stay in Albania. I will absolutely be coming back as a guest someday :).

Emma, thank you so much for all your help at the hostel!
You were always so organized and cheerful, and you truly brought a lot of positive energy to our place.
Bed Station is now your home in Albania — you’re always welcome back anytime.
I really hope our paths cross again in the future!

This experience was so lovely. Rino was the kindest host he was always willing to help in anyway he could and took us on many adventures. The town of Shkoder is pretty small and there is not really public transport, so during off-season it was definitely a bit slow. But if you're looking for a relaxed opportunity to meet locals, it's perfect.

Rino was so great and the work was easy. The only thing to note is there isn't a lot of public transit. But I had a great time and I loved it!

This hostel is truly one of a kind. Its facilities are great and it really does feel like a second home! During off-season it is quiet but the host does plan some parties so if you go, make sure to enjoy those fully!! If not, take the time to relax and enjoy the nature on your days off, it is beautiful. Rino made everything so much better, he took care of me and made sure I was comfortable with anything I needed. Thank you for letting me stay over and get to know you, I will be back to Albania!!

Having Maira volunteer at Bed Station was an absolute pleasure and a true stroke of luck. She wasn’t just helpful—she was unexpectedly amazing. A natural organizer, she brought a sense of structure and calm that transformed our space. The practical systems she put in place are still part of our daily routine, and we continue to benefit from her thoughtful work. I’m deeply grateful for everything she contributed, and I truly hope our paths cross again very soon.
