The Experience

We are revoking an old farm in the land of Bela Krajina (SE of Slovenia), that was abandoned for years. Restoration is in progress, currently used for summer camps for kids and youth. In spring and early autumn time we need help with basic maintenance (lawn moving, cleaning, basic repairs) thus handyman skills are expected. You define your schedule and days off by your own preference. You can meet locals and enjoy the nature at your wish.

Gregor is a very friendly and welcoming guy. We did a lot of renovation work and he always finds work that fits for your skills. The working hours got also respected. The living conditions are really comfortable there. Moreover we met a lot of friendly Slovenians and enjoyed typical dishes that was accompanied by funny and interesting storys about Slovenian history, culture and much more. During the warm summer time you can relax at the Kolpa River, during autumn you can go for nice hikes in the forests. All in all I would highly recommend this experience and I will come back one day :)

My stay at Gregor's the farm was incredible. The surrounding area, the farm and Slovenia in general are beautiful. The agreed worktime was always respected and very fair. We were most at the time alone at the farm but that was no big deal, as Gregor always told concretely what to do and was always available if anything was needed. Work included general maintenance of the property and some renovation and construction work. In summer Bela Krajina is quite warm and you can cool yourself off in the nearby river Kolpa. Would recommend staying there!
