The experience

We are revoking an old farm in the land of Bela Krajina (SE of Slovenia), that was abandoned for years. Restoration is in progress, currently used for summer camps for kids and youth. In spring and early autumn time we need help with basic maintenance (lawn moving, cleaning, basic repairs) thus handyman skills are expected. You define your schedule and days off by your own preference. You can meet locals and enjoy the nature at your wish.


What you offer

20 hours of help per week

Painting & Decorating: Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens


What you get

3 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Get free drinks or beverages.: Drink up! Get free and tasty drinks for yourself.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Surfboards: You can use our surfboards as much as you want.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely


Requirements

Intermediate English or Beginner German

Between 18 and 48 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

We offer you a free accommodation for a longer period of time, you offer back your help at required maintenance activities. You organize your shifts, schedules, meals and free time on your own. We expect full responsibility to keep a Homestead in a good shape.


Activities & Shift

Activities include (but not limited to): lawnmowing, cleaning (windows, sweeping, wiping cobwebs and dust), watering flowers, basic repairs, accepting RV travellers and occasional guests.
You define your own daily schedule and days-off. Landlord expects tasks to be completed on a regular basis. Outdoor tasks should be adapted to weather conditions (e.g. lawn moving).


Rules

You keep your accommodation clean during your stay. Meeting locals is optional. You prepare your own meals in the kitchen, internal or external (all tools, pots and appliances are available). You can make your own laundry when needed.
Use all sports equipment with highest possible responsibility.
Help at renovation activities when owner is around is expected too.
