The hostel has a wonderful atmosphere and the whole team is really welcoming and absolutely lovely. The working hours can be flexible enough throughout the day/week. It is a social place with nights out, pot-lock meals, movie nights and a great place to hang out after work.

I love this hostel so much! Not only is it well-kept and the right amount of quirky, but the people there are amazingly welcoming. The staff is very understanding and flexible with volunteer hours to accommodate those with jobs outside the hostel, and everyone is so friendly. There were movie nights, game nights, potluck dinners — I definitely plan to come back because I had so much fun this past month!

I loved this experience a lot! It's such a great group of people and in such a great location. The hours are very fair and the free breakfast is also a great inclusion. The only thing I'd note is that almost all other volunteers are long termers and have work or study, so there wasn't many people to do the touristy things with during the day, unless you happen to have another short term volunteer with you. This was fine with me but sometimes would have been nice to have someone to do day exploring with. Lots of night activities though which everyone gets involved with. Highly highly recommend

Being volunteer in the hostel was such an amazing first experience ! I'm so grateful to all, managers and volunteers, who were very kind and welcoming since the first day. I felt like a member of a big family. The tasks are easy and the work hours are always respected. The hostel is really well located in the city center and you have plenty of time to walk around the city, or to go to the events organized by the hostel ! I recommend 100% this place, can't wait to come back !

My experience at the highstreet hostel was amazing. Everyone made it feel like a home away from home. The tasks were easy and fair. And there was always good communication. I had a great time exploring Edinburgh and enjoying the beautiful city. Thank you so much for everything!

This was my first volunteer experience and it was really amazing! The volunteers who were with me were just amazing, I made a lot of friends. The managers: Luke and Miguel are respectful, explain what needs to be done clearly, are people willing to answer questions and open to listening to volunteers. As for the accommodation, the common areas are really good. And something I liked is that the working hours are chosen by the volunteer, this is amazing, because it allows you to work at the hostel and still get to know the city that is beautiful. I recommend this experience!

It has been such a nice experience being at the hostel. I felt like I was at home from the very first day thanks to the rest of the volunteers working there and guests staying at the hostel. Easy work and plenty of free time to enjoy the city and the rest of Scotland. I will for sure recommend this experience. Scotland has exceed my expectations. Thanks HSH team!!
