Volunteer visit at Buddhist meditation centre near Berlin

I was there for a week where I was able to disconnect and connect at the same time. It's a place that brings peace. You learn about gardening in terms of volunteer work, you collaborate in the kitchen. You can participate in the meditations which are really a wonderful space to nourish your body, soul, mind. They are very respectful and you feel free to decide what to do in your free time. Grateful for the opportunity to share and learn about modern Buddhism. Nice people. Gen Repa 🫶🏻

There's a lake 20min bike away. The cooks and the vegetarian food is filling and amazing. (I'm not vegetarian) the work is varied but doable. The day is well planned out with lots of breaks and the three meals. My stay here has helped me realize a few things about my outlook on life thanks to the teachings I went too. The residential Buddhist are super chill and nice. Coming here, I didn't know anything about Buddhism and that wasn't an issue at all. The jobs are fun because we do them together with other volunteers. The location is beautiful on the countryside!! Coming again.

I am very grateful to have had the experience of living there for a month. I met amazing, lovely and funny people. The food was great, there is amazing forest around the place and beautiful sunsets to enjoy. There is a lot of work to do so I could improve my cleaning, cooking and gardening skills. Also my English, Spanish and about myself with all this experience with the Center classes. Such a lovely moment. I felt right at home. Hope we meet again. Thank you all.

The days at KMC couldn't have been better. I just didn't want to leave. Everyone is very respectful, open to talk about whatever I wanted and always showed concern for my well being. The food is wonderful and the room and bathrooms are great. Besides the whole building being beautiful, the surrounding nature is perfect. It's not too far from the city and there are bikes available for when I didn't want to walk. I made amazing friends and had the best experience with volunteering in my life. I will remember you guys fondly always. I will definitely come back in the future.

The perfect volunteer if you want peace and quiet...away from the madding crowd of the city and surrounded by trees. But, at the same time, close to Berlin (only one hour). On the other hand, the people are wonderful, warming and always willing to help you!!💚

All the people in the community are amazing, I had a hard time making friends with the other volunteers, I didn't feel connected, there were 9 of us I think because it's a lot of people, the work is hard but we have a lot of breaks, I felt really bad at one point we were work in the garden and we needed to go down to the small lake I couldn't get down and nobody offered me help, I was very scared in one episode a volunteer was kicked out for giving her opinion about the safety of the volunteers, that was scary, but I did my best, unfortunately I didn't enjoy my volunteer experience.

This was genuinely the best world-packers experience I've ever had!! The accommodations are amazing, comfy bed and good food. The working hours are long but you get multiple breaks. The people at this center treated my like family, with a kind and open heart. I definitely recommend staying here!

Staying in TKMC was a really enriching experience. Learning a bit about buddhism, meeting other volunteers, nice conversations with all the other residents and monks. For sure it's something I won't forget! The work is really nice, specially when outside and with other volunteers. One week wasn't enough, hope to do it again sometime in the future. Thank you, TKMC members!

Many thanks to the Buddhist community and the other working visitors for this time full of beautiful moments, new experiences and profound conversations. I felt welcome and very appreciated. You helped me to leave my comfort zone, improve my rosty English, learn a lot about Buddhism in everyday life and come to rest. The memories of pujas, prostrations, amazing offerings, tea breaks, delicious pizza at Easter, molehills and garden projects I carry in my heart. See you next time. Lots love, Silvia

Once more I was welcomed with the warm hospitality of the Center family. Not only it's the perfect place If you are looking for quiet retreat completely surrounded by nature and to learn more about Buddhism, they'll kindly talk to you and answer all your questions, but also there are trains nearby constantly going to Berlin. The work in the garden was somewhat hard at times but they were always concerned about my welfare offering support, rest and equipment. Also there are lots of indoor tasks which are not demanding. Thanks for everything I enjoyed a lot!
