Volunteer visit at Buddhist meditation centre near Berlin

The residents were super kind and interesting to talk to. The meals tasty and plentiful. The surroundings and buildings are amazing. Had the chance to join the prayers and classes. The jobs was mostly house work (ordering, cleaning) and handyman projects (fixing, painting, digging). The responsibilities were clear and they offered flexibility. It was HARD work! The hours where longer that expected, since lunch (1hr) and breaks (2x30mins) are not included. Not as easy as I expected to go to Berlin and back, used my days off for it. Grateful and happy I had this experience <3

My experience at the Center was beyond amazing! The budhism classes and meditations happened every day in German - translated to English - and we can participate in all of them. The environment is super relaxing, the accommodation is super confy and clean, the food served every day is fresh and healthy with many vegetarian options, on the weekends the Cafe is open and they have many delicious options on the menu, and the most important, the residents are the most kind people I've ever met! I'll never forget this experience!

Being at the Center was truly an unforgettable experience. I felt so loved by eveyone and everything was absolutely amazing. Annette is such a kind soul and made sure everything was going according the plan and always checking if we are alright and I am grateful for it. Hank is THE BEST. she is one of a kind and sooo fun to be around her. I learnt a lot about Buddhism and met other travelers. I also had the chance to meet locals and talk German and improve it further. I would definitely go back to visit and they made a special place in my heart forever.

The Center is like home to me, the first time I came a year ago I felt like I had come home, what was supposed to be a two-week volunteer turned into a year-long volunteer, here I learned a little bit of everything, not only did I develop spiritually but I also learned many skills, from a simple volunteer who was learning I dedicated myself and became the manager of the Household and the Café and this time I continued in my role, and I developed even more by learning to manage the kitchen of the center... and there is nothing more rewarding than helping to grow places like the Center…

My experience at the Center was interesting. The environment is great for learning about Buddhism, compassion, patience, forgiveness and spiritual development. The daily schedule runs from 9:00 to 17:00, five days a week. The work is divided by gender: men usually support specific projects, while women are assigned to housekeeping tasks. Food is great. The volunteer dormitory is big and shared with retreat participants on weekends, so the number of people staying there can vary. I recommend it specially if you are looking for spiritual growth. Thanks the Center and all the Residents.

It was lovely to come to a safe and quiet place after travelling a lot, the people at the Center have at every occasion the best energy to help and teach. I was working more closely with the shop manager and it was amazing because I really felt valued with Hank. She allowed me to use my talents and skills to help her work and always took my experience into consideration. As a personal opinion and advice to the general management, I think it is important to identify the skills and abilities of the volunteers to assign them to the right tasks, to keep them motivated and to make them feel valued.
