I do not have the words to describe how much I loved my time in Shuzenji at the hostel! I miss it already. Ryohey is a fantastic host and is very communicative. The work at the hostel is only a few hours per day; easy and fair. Always working with someone else makes the time pass very quickly! The rest of the time is yours to explore the beautiful town - there is so much to see and do, and everyone is lovely. I was provided with my own flat to live in and made fast friends with the other volunteers (Camila and Kay if you see this I miss you!). Thank you so much Hey - I will return :)

It will be an unforgettable experience. The place where I stayed was an entire house for me and another person (in this case, a couple). I had my own room with a toilet. The job is simple, and Ryohey has explained it in detail since the beginning. He also helps you when there are a lot of guests or when he is free. The working hours were less than expected, and there was a lot of free time. The locals are kind and more friendly than the average Japanese from other areas. They are very patient and will help you learn Japanese if you ask for it. The natural landscapes are great too.

My experience was amazing. Izu is a small place but really beautiful in the nature. The host is amazing and the work in the hostel also. I highly recommend this experience.

This was my first ever experience with worldpackers and volunteering overall I cannot imagine a better experience. I got to meet locals (Ikibushi izakaya is recommended), I got to experience local culture and food, wheather, nature, peace on a not-so-big city, and Ryohey-san was always so open to help, to answer questions, suggest places and overall help with everything I was ever in need for. It went great and I would definitely go again, when the opportunity arises.

I can say only good things about this volunteering experience. If you want to practice the japanese language I would highly recommend to come to this place. With Ryohey you can practice the japanese language everyday. He is super helpful and the communication were great. If you dont understand something,he will explain it to you in English. So you don't have to worry about making any mistake. The work was never too much and I was mostly done within 1-2 hours, so I had a lot of free time to explore the town and Izu.

I really enjoyed my time in Shuzenji and at the hostel. Being in a tourist onsen town is a very unique and different vibe from the big cities in Japan. If you are looking for a less urban and relaxing experience in Japan I would definitely recommend. Ryohey was a gracious host, who communicated well with me. The work was easy enough and not too many hours.

Only good things can be said about this volunteering experience! My time working in the hostel was really rewarding: the work was never too much and I was mostly done within two hours, so I had a lot of free time to explore the town and Izu. It is a very relaxing area with a lot of nature, good food and Onsens, and it's perfect if you need a break from the big cities. The locals are super friendly and open to connect, however, there's very few young people living there and not that much to do. Hey was always super helpful and the communication as well as accommodation were great. Thanks!!
