Being vegan this meant a lot to me to promote a plant based/vegan lifestyle at simones kitchen. You get to meet guests visiting the restaurant that is interested in plant based foods and want to have a sustainable lifestyle. I did my best to give each guests a good experience with its ether making the school or giving genuine customer service. It was over all a special experience for me and appreciate the team being patient with me. The learning curve was steep and the team is working on better communication. The city itself is small with nice parks/ cafe/ bars to visit on your time off. Thanks!

It was my first volunteering job and I really enjoyed it. Everyone is nice and it's a good place to meet people from all around the world. Chala makes sure that everyone gets their wishes regarding the work schedule so it's quite flexible. Although sometimes the internal communication could be worked on a bit, I would definitely do it again and recommend it to anyone that likes to cook. Accommodation is nice as well, and Antwerp is a great city. Overall I loved the experience!

My experience at the school was good. Beyond that, I think there are a few things that could be improved. But overall, I really enjoyed the experience and would recommend it.

My three month experience at the school was both valuable and professionally enriching. The work environment was welcoming and collaborative, with a positive atmosphere fostered by both the volunteers and the kitchen team. I gained practical experience in a dynamic setting where there was always something new to learn. While certain aspects, such as internal communication and hygiene protocols, could benefit from greater consistency and clearer standards, I genuinely appreciated my time there and would recommend the experience.

I genuienly enjoyed my time working at the school! The chefs and the other volunteers were lovely and created such a fun atmosphere to work in. What is more the work itself was quite fun and not too demanding. It offered a possibility to learn a lot about vegan cooking and the inner workings of a professional kitchen. In my opinion however, hygene should be more of a priority. During my entire stay there were mice everywhere in the kitchen while not enough action was taken to eradicate them. When I brought up that this circumstance poses a serious health risk, I was brushed off.

I had a good time volunteering at the school even though working in a restaurant really isn't for me. The chefs are very supportive, friendly and willing to teach. Their way of criticism is kind and they are patient with you even if you make the same mistakes over and over again. Sometimes you have to work in the morning and afternoon which is exhausting but still fun because the atmosphere is simply nice. Sadly there are many unsolved problems such as mice in the kitchen and water damages. I hope in the future they are solved.

Thanks for letting me cry my eyes out chopping onions, it's been a character-building and hilarious experience! I'm grateful for the amazing volunteers I met along the way. Communication could have been clearer at times, and Chala might consider lightening up and smiling more to create a friendlier vibe. I wish I'd had more chances to try cooking different dishes, but overall, it was a great way to sharpen my customer service skills and get hands-on practice.

My time at the school was a truly enjoyable experience from start to finish. The tasks were easily manageable and whenever I had questions, Chala or Ruth were around to answer them. I learnt that cooking vegan meals can be simple and my experience here has even inspired me to adopt a vegan lifestyle. The hours could sometimes be long however the time passed quickly. And you could always ask for specific days off, which I appreciated. All in all my stay here has been amazing and I would highly recommend it. :)

I had such a great time in Antwerp. The team is super nice and I learned a lot from Ruth and Chala. I really enjoyed the work there and you get a good insight into how work is done in a restaurant. the school was delicious and you could also cook with things from the restaurant in your free time. On your free days you definitely have enough time to explore Belgium and go on little trips. I would recommend to anyone to spend some time at the school.

I am totally grateful to have participated in this project. Without a doubt, it was one of the best volunteer projects I have ever done. Ruth is an excellent host and cared about my comfort. Chala is the best teammate Ruth could have without a doubt. I can sum up this experience as a place where you create new the school with friends while listening to great music. I really felt at home. I definitely hope to be able to come back!
