This was my first time volunteering, and it could not have gone any better! I was greeted warmly by both management and volunteers the instant I came through the door. I love the atmosphere that Jake and Kat work so hard to create at the hostel, it feels like a little home away from home, encouraging a strong sense of family among the staff and volunteers. The work itself is very light and easy, the hours were exactly as discussed sometimes even less! I am truly grateful for my experience here, cannot recommend the hostel enough!

My time at the hostel was better than I could ever have expected. Jake and Kat are such wonderful hosts, who ensure that guests + volunteers alike feel safe, comfortable and welcomed. They foster a true sense of family at this hostel, which is as clear as day, given the sheer number of return volunteers they have. All the other volunteers I met over my 5 weeks here were so full of life, stories and adventure, and I can safely say that I have made some very true friends for life. I am very grateful for my experience here, as it was one like no other. I cannot wait to return soon!

There aren't enough words to express how much I have loved my stay at RMB. The work is simple and usually gets done early. There are always events going on to take part in ceilidh, pub crawl, cook up. As for the other volunteers I have made extremely close friends that I will talk to forever. It is a little wee hostel that just feels like home instantly. It becomes a family and a home for all of the volunteers. And Kat and Jake are always there to support you in anything you may need or any questions you have. I will never forget my experience there.

Everyone was so welcoming and it was impossible not to get to know and like them. The work is efficient and you often work less than 2h/day. The hostel is a nice place to hang out - well decorated and good light. They're really invested in making guests and volunteers stays as comfortable as possible. There's Tupperware, spices, and cooking oil. People leave behind food and hair products and soap in free boxes. There are free pads and tampons. Also, you can request a specific day off and you can get more than one day off per week if you help with events or cook for the hostel.

Our time at the hostel was beyond what we would ever expect. You are welcomed with open arms and treated as family right away. Jake and Kat make it easy for you to enjoy your time in Edinburgh whether that's enjoying the night life with live music and pub crawls or adventures through the highlands, no matter what you are looking for they will ensure your needs are met. The connections made at the hostel will last forever between guests, volunteers and locals. I'm so grateful to have gotten the opportunity to volunteer at this gem of a hostel. RMB has my heart forever.

This being my first ever Worldpackers experience, I did not know what to expect once I arrived at this hostel. Right from the start, I was greeted with open arms and could not recommend this place more (especially for first-timers). The atmosphere, encouraged by Jake and Kat, is very welcoming, creating a strong sense of family and a home away from home. The location is perfect and the daily tasks are very simple. This is definitely the highlight of my five month backpacking trip!

The five weeks I spent at the hostel were amazing! Everyone was really welcoming and I became part of this beautiful family. I was able to meet wonderful people and make friends for life. The hostel and the people became a home away from home for me. The work is really light and easy. Working hours are exactly like agreed before and sometimes even less. The location of the hostel is perfect to explore Edinburgh and its surroundings. So if you consider to volunteer at RMB - do it! I can 100% recommend it! I had a gorgeous time with all of you - thank you! (slay <3)

When arriving in Edinburgh, I had no idea I would be leaving with a whole new family. That is exactly how I felt after leaving the hostel. It was an incredible experience that I will carry with me for my life. You create deep friendships with the other volunteers, have fun and memorable nights out, spend hours sitting around chatting and in general have a very care free, fun time. You should believe all the reviews that say Kat and Jake are incredible, because they really do go above and beyond to make you feel at home, included and safe. So many memories, this place is so special!

My experience at RMB was great, I recommend it! I spent almost two months there. The hostel is really well located, the managers are welcoming, open-minded and flexible, Jake is an amazing guy. The tasks are simple and if you finish earlier you are free to go to explore the city. Fortunately for the next volunteer, there's will be another group of volunteers than the one I met, new ones, who really wants to share experience and include everyone.
