The Experience
Fancy the hostel lifestyle and a chance to live in stunning, historic Edinburgh? We're looking for energetic backpackers to help keep our cosy little hostel on the iconic Royal Mile clean and tidy. With only 38 beds, we are a safe and comfy wee community. You'll be changing beds and cleaning bathrooms. In exchange, we're offering accommodation in our staff dorm and a free breakfast. Get stuck into our daily events or chill out in your new home!

Coming back for the second time and staying longer than expected, because without a doubt this place is my second home. It's where I feel surrounded by good people, where I feel safe, welcomed, and truly happy. Jack and Billie make the feeling of home and family belong to this place. I deeply love how balanced and connected they are, and how beautifully they bring together volunteers who don't just work side by side, but become real friends. This is a place my heart will always return to. Missing everyone already, and I'll be back very soon 💖

This was my first volunteering experience and I'm really glad I chose RMB. I felt comfortable from the very first day I arrived. Billie and Jack are amazing, always kind and really supportive! The work hours are very fair and well organised, which leaves you plenty of time to explore the city and the surroundings. It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone!

I had such an amazing time volunteering here!!!! Jack and Billie are THE best and make the whole place feel super welcoming and so fun. Everyone's extremely friendly and you meet someone new literally every day so if you're looking to make friends look no further!🙂↕️ The work is superr chill, usually just 2 hours(sometimes 4) a day with two days off a week. Free breakfast and a bed in the best location in the city for that? Insanely good deal. I've got so many memories and funny stories I'm taking with me. Such a fun, unforgettable experience. Already miss it! Thank you RMB crew!!!!!🫡💗🫶

RMB was the best first Worldpackers experience I could have asked for! Jack and Billie are amazing managers! And the working hours are super fair, with plenty of time off to explore the city. I spent 6 weeks there and met amazing volunteers that quickly became friends! I'd love to come back one day!! <3

I had a great time volunteering at RMB for the month. Jack and Billie are great managers- very accommodating and the work hours were fair and uncomplicated. I met such amazing people here ! The volunteers chosen for RMB are so lovely and friendly! Had loads of time to explore the city and the hostel is in a fantastic location to do so. Thank you RMB 💓💓
