This was my first volunteer experience, and I couldn't have asked for a better one! From the very beginning, the project team made me feel welcome. The warmth and kindness of everyone there created such a peaceful environment. One of the best parts of volunteering here was meeting people from all over the world. It was incredible to connect with such a diverse group of people. The work there felt meaningful, and there was always support and encouragement from everyone. I'm grateful for this experience and I recommend it to everyone who considers volunteering at the project.

The place is super cool! Its a great opportunity to meet people from al around the word! However the work is hard ( i was in the café), and really exhausting. Big plus for the amazing food we had every day!

The project is a beautiful place, surrounded by nature, and the free access to classes is a big plus. The 30 hours are respected, even though you end up working all day, with little time for personal growth during the week. There's no proper introduction or explanation of how things work, volunteers have to figure it out alone. You also have to pay for the washing machine and buy your own detergent, which feels unfair since we often get our clothes dirty and no staff clothes are provided. Still, great food and lovely people. I Would recommend but with a few changes from the host

I overall enjoyed my experience at MKMC, mostly because of being with an amazing group of volunteers! You are assigned a role (kitchen, cafe, housekeeping, etc.) based on where help is needed and the hours are generally respected. Communication from higher-ups can be limited, but there are Friday morning meetings and a few people you can contact if you have any questions - and the other volunteers and residents are very helpful. The property was beautiful and the shared living was comfortable with some extra expenses required, ex. laundry. The food was great, especially free, unlimited tea! :)

I would advise people to carefully research before coming here Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this experience. Although the location, accommodation, and food were great, and the work hours were respected (with lovely supervisors in my experience), I had problems with this place as an institution. I left feeling uncomfortable and concerned for other volunteers - feel free to message for more info on this.

My experience in the project was amazing. I met incredible people there, everyone at the project is very kind, helpful and friendly. I was at the café, the shift are fixed and the task are easy to learn, also Liam (supervisor) or Aurelie (manager) are always there to answer any questions. The food in the project is delicious! I really enjoyed my time there, this experience exceeded my expectations 100% recommended!

It was a wonderful experience, I got to know so many amazing people with whom I share many memories now, the nuns are really nice, the place in general is magical and the atmosphere you live in is perfect for a growing up experience, I learn a lot about buddism but also about the project. Food was really good and schedule was always respected. At this time of the year when finishing work hours the day was already dark and you couldn't do much outside but there is a volunteers room in where you can hang out with people.

The center was a beautiful and amazing experience, I spent 2 weeks at household and I really enjoyed both my tasks and the group of volunteers who were with me. Household gave me the chance to explore part of the castle that I would never have been able to see in other areas, the tasks were dynamic and made the day go by very quickly, plus Thourya and Susan were very warm when explaining the tasks and I will always carry them in my heart 🩵. I totally recommend 🌸

This experience was spectacular, and I felt comfortable and calm during my stay at the center. I also learned a lot and met wonderful people from the staff and volunteers. The castle and the place where the center is located are surrounded by nature and are close to the beach. I enjoyed walking because I always found stunning landscapes that gave me peace. Thank you to the project Ulverston Center because they made my experience unforgettable. I recommend this experience for those who want to share with other volunteers and have a space to take a break for thinking.
