Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre

Volunteering at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre (Manjushri KMC) offers an opportunity to experience first-hand the Buddhist way of life within a vibrant, international community.

There are many ways in which you can help. For example, serving in the cafe, helping to prepare guest rooms, cooking, gardening or joining a renovation project for the building.

We are located just south of the English Lake District, situated in 70 acres of woodland and gardens, on the shores of Morecambe Bay. Take this opportunity to be part of a diverse international community of Buddhist practitioners and volunteers, make lasting connections, and enjoy a meaningful break. Typically you will volunteer Monday to Friday but depending on the activity, it may also include weekends. Whilst these activities are not always strenuous you will need to be reasonably fit and active to come on a volunteering visit. You will have two days free each week when you can explore the Lakes, or just relax in the friendly atmosphere of the Centre. As a volunteering visitor you are welcome to take part in many of the spiritual activities at Manjushri Centre such as evening classes and weekend courses.

It was simply amazing. I worked in the art studio, and it couldn’t have been better. I learned things I never imagined I would learn and grew and developed so much, both personally and professionally
I’m deeply grateful to everyone, especially Erica, Lupe, and Rodrigo, who supported me and helped me a lot in the studio.
I also met wonderful people and had the opportunity to learn more about Kadampa Buddhism by attending classes and meditations, which made this experience even more special and truly transformative

My time at Manjushiri was truly a wonderful experience, I was able to meet tge most interesting people, be inspired by buddhism and learn to practice meditation. I was lucky to work in the cafè but be prepared to work and be ready to step in when other departments need a hand. Household can require longer hours or work and manual labor but the team is always willing to help. The community is welcoming and it’s easy to feel at home.

My experience was amazing. The food was fresh and equilibrate, every day different. Tsalden, the person encharge of volunteers is very kind and helpful. I loved going to the meditation, workshops and talk with the residents, because I learned a lot about myself and the Buddhist tradition. For sure I recommended to everybody that want to grow and being in a really peacful place❤️
