The Experience

We're a guest house in Kinlochleven on the West Highland way and surrounded by mountains and lochs (lakes). Volunteering consists of waitressing, housekeeping, laundry, reception, and kitchen help 4 days a week, for 4 hours. You'll have 3 full days off per week so we can enjoy the surroundings! Accommodation is in a shared apartment with myself and sometimes my girlfriend, plus possibly another volunteer :)

I had a lovely experience volunteering, the tasks are well structured & ordered. Luis was an excellent host, we played lots of games/hiked/laughed. The room had a beautiful view of the mountains. I'm grateful for my time spent here and for the lovely people I got to meet! I'd recommend to anyone looking for a slow nature getaway!

The time I spent here at the the guest house was extraordinary. Lewis is an amazing person and we got along so well. We went on some hikes together with anothe volunteer and he showed and told us about history and landmarks in this area. Work was definitely manageable and you have a good amount of freetime where you can just roam around the surrounding hills/mountains or chill in your cozy little room with a great view of said mountains. Kinlochleven and my time here will have a special place in my heart. 🫶🏻

Volunteering at the the guest house was an amazing first Worldpacker experience for me and my friend. Lewis was a very welcoming and friendly host, who made sure that we had enough time to really explore the nature around Kinlochleven. Even though it is a small village, it is wonderful if you enjoy hiking and exploring nature. We had some great recommendations by Lewis on which routes to take to get the best views. Beyond that, the volunteering work was pretty easy and always amazingly explained. All in all, me and my friend had a great time at Lewis' the guest house and would greatly recommend it! :)

Besides Lewis being one of the funniest people I've met, he was also a welcoming and very caring host. The work was manageable and easy to do, and we had a lot of free time for ourselves. Kinlochleven is quite small but the nature in and around this town is truly stunning and Lewis was happy to recommend us some good hiking routes. This was my first Worldpacker and volunteer experience and I wouldn't trade it for anything else.
