I had an amazing experience in Kamakura. It's a beautiful city, and Kuni is a really nice host who makes the best food! At the volunteer house, I met incredible people from all around the world. I highly recommend this experience and hope to come back again someday

The experience was unforgettable! Kuni and Ai-san were incredibly welcoming, the night shifts were straightforward, leaving me plenty of time during the day to explore the city. The volunteer house had a family atmosphere, and I loved sharing meals and experiences with other volunteers. Speaking of meals, the food provided by Kuni, Ai-san, was really good & delicious. Thank you to everyone at Junx & Kamakura for making this a memorable chapter of my journey. I'd recommend this opportunity to anyone looking for cultural immersion, and a chance to explore a beautiful part of Japan!

I worked every other day, dinner at 5:30 pm at Wander Kitchen, 7 pm start at the hostel, 11 am back for breakfast and the shift ends. Your schedule will depend on how many people are there. Work couldn't be easier, just checking people in and out of hostels. You will have to sleep at one of the 4 hostels half the time. Otherwise there is a volunteer house just a couple train stops away. Most will sleep in a big dorm. Groceries are paid for by the organization, so you could stay without spending a dime on food. Kamakura itself is a tourist trap, that being said the beach was always great.

The work here is the biggest plus! You work in up to 4 different hostels (I got all 4) and you get a meal before and after shift at the main restaurant. Kuni and his wife are lovely and make good food! The cons of this stay are, nmthe house you stay in is a 40 minute walk from the main kitchen area, or 20 minutes if you get the train (and pay), the house is worn down, there's no dryer so if the weather's bad good luck drying stuff, there's NO WiFi in the house, you have to walk up a big hill to get to the house, there's no official cleaning so its a mess. But the other volunteers really madeit

Kuni and Ai-san are amazing cooks and the meals they provided were absolutely delicious!! The work is easy and the paid staff are wonderful! The accommodation was fine but there were a few things that are worth knowing. The house is a separate accommodation that does not have working wifi and is quite old so there is damage and some mold. If you're lucky you can get a wifi signal for a few minutes but it's not reliable. There is only 1 shower and toilet but 10-12 people living there at a time. Overall a great stay and I would work there again, the good far outweighed the bad!

My experience with Kuni was okay. Contacting Kuni takes patience. He takes a while to answer. Which I can understand to a length. When it was my time to arrive, I was trying to contact him and I was almost impossible. Getting to the volunteer house was also a mess. The address he sends you, is hard to find. Also the volunteer house does not look as it is in the Pictures. It's kinda messy and not very clean. I felt very uncomfortable at the house.

I feel so lucky to have lived this experience and to be welcomed by Kuni kind smile! The share house is cozy, without WiFi, but it's 10min away by train from the hostels I worked at. The night shifts are very easy, after 11pm you can go to sleep and wake up the morning after to Wanderkitchen delicious breakfast. I am so glad I had the chance to meet many different beautiful people from all around the world and becoming a big family. Kuni and Ai-San provide you with the best meals before and after the shifts and Kuni also pay for the grocery. I hope to get the chance to come back!

I absolutely loved my short stay in Kamakura! The work is super chill and leaves the day to explore the neighbourhood or go to Tokyo. The guesthouse is fun with the other volunteers and the food we get before and after work was delicious. I can highly recommend this experience!

I had a lot of fun in Kamakura! The receptionist shifts are night shifts, so we basically have the day to explore Kamakura and the surroundings. We get the month's planning at the beginning of the month, and the work is really easy. We sleep on-site and also have a volunteer house that could use a bit of furniture (but is practical enough). We get (amazing) dinner and breakfast on our work days and I loved hanging around Kamakura with the other volunteers. Thank you to every worker, Kuni and Ai, who made my stay really nice and full of lasting memories. Time, sadly, went fast!
