I loved my stay in Kamakura! The shifts are laid back and you only have to work 3-4 nights a week (4ish hours for each shift) which is perfect for exploring during the day. Kuni is incredibly kind and caring. I would 100% stay here again!!

I spent about a month in Kamakura and would have stayed even longer if I had time! Lovely place, lovely people (Kuni, Ai san, the day staff and the other volunteers); you could work in 4 different places with shifts from 18.30-23/8-10 or 19/22-8 or 20-23/8-11 and you'll sleep in the night staff bed, three (or four) times a week. You'll live in the sharehouse with the others (a villa up the hill, 4 train stops (~10 min by train) from Kamakura station and have dinner and breakfast at Kuni's restaurant when you work, groceries expenses for the house are also covered. Grateful, will def come back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Kamakura is a beautiful city, and my experience there was amazing! Kuni is a wonderful host—kind, welcoming, and always making sure everyone feels at home. The volunteer house had a great atmosphere, and I met fantastic people from all over the world. The work was well-balanced, giving me plenty of time to explore. Plus, the food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for cultural immersion. I hope to return one day!

Kuni is absolutely an amazing human being! Truly looks after his volunteers as if they are his own children! There are 4 different hostels you could work at, all similar work. You live in a guest house with a beautiful view up a CRAZY hill but it's the right of passage walking up that hill hahaha! Also you're about an hour from the heart of Tokyo! Definitely HIGHLY recommend!

My time in Kamakura was great. It was my first volunteer experience and Kuni was such a welcoming host and all of the staff members were so kind too. The food they provided on working day, was amazing. Also, the work was super easy and I had plenty of free time to explore Kamakura and it's surroundings. It was a great experience and I would recommend it to everyone :)

I had a great time in Kamakura! Everyone was very kind, and there is always a good amount of other volunteers to meet. Meals provided were also amazing. I will say the description for this experience is a little off, as there may be morning shift (which lines up with breakfast, so timing is not bad) that you may also have to work, depending on the hostel your shift is at. You also stay at a volunteer house, and only at the hostel on your shifts. Overall, I'd say that this was a great first Worldpackers experience and I would love to come back in the future!
