Had a great time here. Shelter is really well ran and the dogs are great. Emily owns the shelter whilst Angus manages the day-to-day, both do an excellent job. Urubamba and the Sacred Valley are really cool areas with a lot to explore and do in your spare time. If you're interested in a hands on job where you get to care for dogs in a really cool area then this would be great for you.

It was the best experience, the project tothe shelter and help the dogs is really well managed. We worked with a incredible team to be here for the dogs all day. The feeding, the cleaning tasks, the walks with the dogs, everything is well organised. I've learn so much being in contact all day with the dogs. Leaving them was the worst part.

Thanks Leila! It was so great having you at the shelter! You were so patient and caring, especially with Todd. He really needed that extra time and attention, and thanks to you, he’s now going out for walks with the leash! We’re super grateful for everything you gave during your time here, and we’d love to have you back anytime. 🐾💛

It was a truly amazing experience. Emily basically lives for helping the dogs in the house and the ones in the city/region. At times it can be challenging if you never have worked in a dog shelter before, but you'll be rewarded times 1000 by dog smiles and the impact you had. Definitely recommend, I wish I had stayed longer!

Jonathan was such a trooper. He arrived during a really intense first day and handled it with so much resilience. I honestly wasn’t sure if he’d stay after that, but he did, and we’re so glad he did! He showed real dedication, had a great attitude, and became a solid, positive part of the team. We really appreciated having him here. 🐾

Wonderful to hear Alexis!
It was really great having you here! You had such a calm vibe with the dogs, and it made a big difference, especially with Todd. Seeing him start going out on walks was huge. You jumped in and helped wherever we needed. You’re welcome back anytime! 🐾

Working atthe shelter really makes a difference to the animals there. All of the dogs are truly lovely and they truly show their appreciation for your care. It's a hard gig, because you stay at the property all day which kind of makes it so you're working all day, even though there's a lot of downtime as well. Emily the host is a strong and fierceful leader and the animals are lucky to have her! This was my first experience at WP and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to make a real difference.I also recommend staying at least 3 weeks.Come motivated and full of love and you'll be fine.

This was an incredible experience. Emily is so welcoming and she does so so much!! She was more than a host, we were treated like family, thank you for everything ❤️ As for the volunteering in itself, it wasn't easy (but that was expected, all the information was given prior to going there and you know what you are getting into). Having like-minded people and a great team spirit made the work much more easier! Everything was so well structured and we had lots of free time to chill when everything was done. The location is just gorgeous and the dogs❤️ ohh I'll miss them so much!!

Emily has definitely built something special in Urubamba. Despite various challenges and constraints, they have created a home for >30 dogs, where they can all live and play worry-free with each other while also receiving lots of affection from us humans. The work, which revolves around feeding and cleaning after the dogs (and a couple of cats), can be intense, but there was also ample time to chill. My wife and I had a memorable two weeks atthe shelter, privileged to be in the company of the dogs and to receive the warm hospitality of Emily and Louise (the volunteer manager).

Eugene and Adelle were fantastic volunteers. They are self-motivated and organized. Eugene’s photography, especially the Christmas photos, was a wonderful contribution. Adelle’s veterinary skills were invaluable in caring for the dogs. Plus, her pancakes were legendary! They were a true blessing to the team and are welcome back anytime. 🐾✨

I've had such an amazing experience at the shelterwith Emily and all the other volunteers (so much so I will be extending my stay for even longer!). Emily has an amazing vision for her project to impact Public Health and Education in addition to rescuing so many of these amazing dogs and I'm so glad to have been a part of it. It goes without saying the dogs are great, but so are the people and you'll have a brilliant time here! If you're interested in language exchange it's another reason to love it here as there are so many opportunities to practice Spanish!

I've stayed only two weeks at the shelterbut I wished I could have stayed longer ! I felt really good there and it is mainly because it felt like a home. Basically you live with the dogs, take care of them (food, cleaning, hugs !) but apart from the feeding time which is fixed, you can organise the rest of your day as you want so life was super chill, especially after 3 months of backpacking non-stop. I was reading under the sun while petting dogs, walking dogs in the moutains (the place is gorgeous!) ... Emily is super flexible, open and easy going. Life is simple and good there !

My time at the shelterwas the best time of my life. Emily and the other volunteers directly welcomed me as if I am part of their family. The tasks make a lot of fun, are always well explained and you still get lots of free time, so I was able to go on trips to Maccu Piccu, Cusco and Rainbow Mointains. In the evenings We watched movies, played games or went to the brewery. But the best thing here are the dogs! They are very lovely and want attencion all day. If I could, I would adopt every single one! All in all I just can recommend everyone to get part of this beautiful project!
