I enjoyed my time at Mayachik. I helped out in reception and in the kitchen. While there was a lot to learn, all of the staff were very supportive, kind, and always there to help. The complimentary breakfasts were delicious and big portions! It was a great way to start the day. I would recommend this experience if you are looking for something quiet and relaxing, as it's the perfect place to unwind. I had plenty of time to explore San Juan and the surrounding towns, and they were very flexible with scheduling working hours around tours I had booked. Thank you for everything Mayachik!

I had a great time here. The work isn't too difficult but there's a lot to learn quickly which was sometimes a bit stressful. I also helped out in the kitchen which I really enjoyed. It took me a couple weeks to get the hang of everything but everyone was very helpful. Note is that most of the work is in Spanish and most of the staff don't speak English so brush up beforehand. The meals are great and big portions and the lodge has good facilities. They were also quite flexible with working hours if you had a tour booked or something. The staff are also so friendly and really made my stay !

While volunteering at the lodge Mayachik for a month, I had various roles - social media marketing, as well as teaching yoga and English classes. The hotel is located a little bit outside the centre of town, offering a deeper connection with nature, AND mosquitos (be prepared for this). The food was great - vegetarian, tasty, and big portions! NOTE: I'd recommend reserving during the high season if you're hoping to meet other volunteers/travellers, or it will be very quiet.

Wonderful experience. What they offer is what you get. The hotel has been there for more than 10 years and it's very profesional. The owner and the team are very supportive, kind and available when you have a doubt. Food is delicious, absolutely amazing. If you go there with the intention to contribute, it will work just fine. Managers are persons with who you can talk and flexible. Great volunteering experience

This volunteer is great I loved the job I did and the people, I chose the 25hrs per week and it was enough, its hard work in all areas, I was in kitchen and it would get super busy for dinner, all the host would come almost at the same hour to eat and we would only have about and hour to cook/clean and we would end up working a few more minutes/hours. the dorms were cozy enough and all the nature at the hotel is so pretty. when I left it felt like a was leaving home to go home. I would recommend this volunteering to everyone, It is home.
