The owner Effie is really cozy and friendly but she mainly works in the bar and I worked in the reception so we didn't share too much time. In the volunteering you have free breakfast 2 eggs, tea, coffee, bananas, toast and 1 cupcake every day. You work 4 hours a day 1 day off. The hotel is located really close to the main landmarks so you can walk everywhere. In the hotel work a Myanmar family, Whan and Wive who are really nice. Otherwise I felt uncomfortable with the manager Summer and the cook who had almost all the time a hostil treatment whit volunteers, customers and workers being rude.

I stayed at the hostel for 1.5 months and would recommend it only if the vibe and staff improve. There's a kitchen and selfmade breakfast (2 eggs and toast), but the staff makes it hard to access and is picky about ingredients so be prepared to eat out as the kitchen is locked when staff leave. Also new seating arrangements makes staying in the commonarea uncomfortable. The hostel is quiet with nice/clean bathrooms near temples and 15 minutes from KaoSan. Good for exploring Bangkok before or after shift but not for socializing or remote work, as you'll be mostly alone and the WiFi isn't good

This experience has been a good time in general. Effie is a really friendly and nice person 😊 Only few things they have to improve in the hostel. Staff is not helpful at all. Even though some of them can't speak english, they don't try to help you in a nice way. However, my time in the bar Motu Bangkok was great. I learned about drinks and cocktails, so it's a new skill now for me.

I just left early and feel like I've escaped prison. I now understand why I and another new volunteer replaced two others who left abruptly. This hostel has the three rudest, angriest people in Thailand as the manager, cook, and cleaner. They scowl, passive aggressively ignore greetings, avoid eye contact, and bark orders in Thai. Male volunteers either face sexual harassment from the 44 y/o manager, Summer, or are on her shit list. Females are also made miserable. There's a long term trans roommate volunteer who never speaks. The only kind smiles come from the two lovely workers from Myanmar.

I feel sorry that we haven't met and didn't have a chance to know you before you left. I have to say that the problem may be very sensitive between you and other staffs. I will manage them to better fit with everyone. Thank you for your time.

Great place, work was as described. Decided to leave early because I was offered a free place to stay in Bangkok, but would've stayed if it didn't come up!

I enjoyed volunteering at this hostel and staying in Bangkok for 1 month. Work hours were respected, and shifts can be flexible. Other volunteers were supportive as well. Not only the reception administrative work, but also we need to do kitchen hand as the hostel attaches the cafe, so I learnt something new. Housekeeping staff and cook don't speak English, but we could manage to communicate relying on Google Translate, and it was fun part! Thank you Effie for accepting me and giving me this opportunity. All the best for your business!

My experience was great! I applied for reception but they needed my help at the bar, Motu. I didn't have bartender experience so I felt I couldn't help that much in busy times making drinks, but I did my best with the other tasks and really enjoyed! There were always someone to make the orders and help, Wave, Soda or Effie herself, who I really enjoyed being close to, she's really nice, great with hospitality and very creative!! The whole staff made me feel welcomed and I'll miss them 💜 You have a lot of free time to explore and the location is really good!

I loved my time working at the bar! The team was amazing in teaching me all I needed to know about bartending whilst still making it fun and enjoyable. The shifts and hours were very reasonable and most of the time chill thanks to the full time workers there. I met amazing people, both other volunteers and guests, and had plenty of time to explore Bangkok outside of work too.
