The Experience

Hi we need some help taking care of different duties. this means cleaning in the garden, painting, easier carpenters tasks, sorting storage etc.. you need to be able to work alone if needed. great if you have a drivers license and can driva automatic. You dont need to be an expert in anything and we will always show you how to do things. Big + if you are a handyman! Much welcome to Öland!

Sofie and Henrik are the sweetest people. I immediately felt at home with them. Because of this welcoming atmosphere, they and the volunteers felt like family to me. We ate, traveled and had great evenings together. Öland is beautiful with beaches for sunrises and sunsets just 15 minutes away on either side. Lilly 🐶 brightens up the place even more. The chores are easy to do and we had bikes for afternoon rides to hidden gems. I wholeheartedly recommend this place. Go and visit the beautiful surroundings and parties and connect with amazing people. I enjoyed every second! Thank you guys ♡

My time at the hostel was unforgettable! Living in peaceful little Löttorp on gave me a taste of the slow life. Sophie and Henrik were incredibly thoughtful host who made me feel safe welcomed, and included from day one. The work was fair and we often finished early, which left plenty of time to explore öland. My room was quiet and cozy, perfect place to slow down and recharge. What made this experience extra special was the shared meals and cultural exchange. All meals were included, and we got to cook dishes from our own backgrounds wow Sophie and Henrik did the same. Tack så mycket!

The hosts, Solfie and Henrik were friendly and welcoming. The work hour was respected and start time is usually flexible in the morning. My biggest issue was the volunteers' living quarters, which is either in the basement in the attic (not shown in the pictures). Both spaces were filled with spiders, and more importantly they are not fire safe. When the fire department came to do inspections, Solife told us to not tell them that we live in the basement/attic, because we "are not supposed to". The basement/attic was not comfortable nor was it very safe. It didn't even have a proper fire alarm

The hosts were warm and welcoming. The tasks are mostly independent and unless there are other volunteers there you could spend a lot of time on your own; however some evenings were spent having nice dinner with the hosts. The majority of the work is cleaning which should be advertised more clearly, i did not spend much time doing other tasks which can be repetitive. The volunteer rooms were different to what was advertised as the images show guest rooms: i found it difficult to sleep with the animal/ bird noises from the chimney.

An amazing and quiet place to enjoy nature and the beautiful beaches surrounding the island. Sofie and Henrik are amazing hosts, who spend time with you, cook and let you get to know the local culture. The tasks are simple and you have enough time to get to know Lottorp, a beautiful island where you can connect with nature and cycle to many places.
