The Experience

This position is about helping with our house and and smaller construction projects. You will do things you most likely never have done in your life, you will learn something from a master carpenter every day. We have come to a stage with our house project, where the dirty work is done and you will create outstanding beautiful things. You don't need to be a sophisticated carpenter, but at least you should consider yourself as a handy person.

My stay with Heid and Astrid was wonderful. The farm, a beautiful place, connects you with nature from the very first moment. As my first volunteer experience, I took away unforgettable memories: they are a welcoming family and their pets are delightful. Thank you for everything 🫶🏼

I stayed with Hein and Astrid for almost 6 weeks and had some of the best days of my travels there. Their home is beautiful, right by a lake, and the work was always fun and varied—gardening, building beehives, helping with renovations, and more. They made me feel totally at home, always offering things to do on days off, and kept me very well fed with amazing food. The 3-day kayaking trip was unforgettable (I even saw a moose swimming!). They're generous, kind, and full of good energy. Truly great people—couldn't recommend them more!

It was my first time volunteering and I loved it!! They are experienced hosts and they make you feel super welcomed to the family. There's a lot of work to do and they keep you busy without it being too much. I created memories here that will last me a lifetime :) thank you Astrid and Hein!!!

Was a incredible experience, they are very welcoming and nice family. I learned a lot about permaculture, local food and their country life. Hein and Astrid are fantastic host, they were very kind, and always listened to me when I needed something. Their country life is wonderful, every day there is something different and entertaining to do. They have a lot of patience and encouragement to explain the processes of the field. Thanks very much.

Staying at Sandböla was a truly incredible experience. Hein and Astrid made me feel so welcome and part of the family. They are very relaxed with how much you do and it was all really enjoyable and stress-free work. For me this involved chopping firewood, some gardening and working with timber and some handheld tools and much more. Their communication was really good and the food they prepared was some of the best I've ever had. The activities we did like kayaking and ice hockey games were amazing and I'd highly recommend for those wanting to experience Sweden!
