My friend and I helped out at the hostel for about a month during off-season. It wasn't necessarily a regular hostel experience with people from all over the world traveling through, which had it's ups and downs. Nelson was very helpful and forthcoming with our wishes regarding the free days or overall unexpected situations we faced during work hours :) It's also a bonding experience with other worldpackers, which we were thankful for.

It was so amazing to stay here. Nelson is very kind and welcoming. I stayed here for 2 weeks and I had a lot of fun. He made some Portugese home cooked meals, which was really fun to try. The work is easy to cover and social. Nelson really cares a lot about the hostel, which you can see and I think that is amazing! I would definetly recommend this place to anyone. The city is also cute and there are a lot of other beautiful places nearby

The hostel was a great first experience as a worldpacker! The hostel is located in a cute, historic city and it's very easy to travel all over Portugal by bus/train. The work is easy and not demanding and you get an opportunity to meet travelers from all over the world. Nelson is an amazing host! He was very welcoming and kind and always made sure we were doing well and felt comfortable. I sprained my ankle while in Braga and ended up in a walking boot and Nelson was very accommodating with work and made sure I could get around okay. Highly recommend to others!

The volunteer experience at the hostel was amazing. I had the chance to see how does hostel work and get to know local culture. Our host Nelson was very helpful and communicative. The tasks and hours of work were as agreed before. The city of Braga is very social and there's many culture events going on. In the free time I and other volunteers were spending a lot of time doing fun stuff as playing card games or having dinners. I was really lucky to spend my first volunteering there!

I really enjoyed my month at the hostel! Nelson is a nice host, he makes sure that the volunteers are doing well and is always there when you have questions or need support. Furthermore, the work was not hard and easy to learn. In return you get free accommodation and groceries for cooking. Moreover, the volunteers share their own space (livingroom, bedroom & bathroom). During my stay we were 4-6 volunteers. I can highly recommend this experience to everyone who is interested in getting to know Portugal and connecting with other people, as well as the city of Braga, that truly caught my heart

I stayed at the hostel for about a month and had a great time. Nelson is very welcoming and makes you feel at home. The work is easy and fair, even if not always explained in detail at first, but you learn quickly. The hostel isn't super social, though it's still possible to meet people and have nice chats with guests. Braga is gorgeous and safe, with plenty to explore nearby. Knowing a bit of Portuguese really helps, especially with reception tasks like check-ins and phone calls. I had a great experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to discover Braga and Portugal!

My time at the hostel wasn't quite what I was expecting but I am still very grateful for the experience. Because it was quiet season, Nelson got a bunch of contract trade workers to come and live in the hostel, which changed the dynamic a lot - our job was essentially cleaning up after them and there was barely any social interaction. I was hoping for more of a social experience but I understand why it wasn't. There was also a lot of downtime while on shift. Nelson is a great host though and he always has jokes up his sleeve! Braga is a lovely city and the hostel is in a great location.

Overall I had a lovely time at the hostel, mostly thanks to the other volunteers. But Nelson is a great host who makes you feel welcome and always checks if you're okay with the work etc throughout the stay. The work is easy and clear. In my opinion, there are a couple things that could be improved when it comes to management and the overall state of the hostel etc. There was a case of bedbugs but Nelson did a thorough clean immediately. I don't know if I'd be rushing back but I'm very thankful for the experience and the hostel definitely has a place in my heart nonetheless!💞

I Stayed at the hostel for around 6 weeks in November/December with my boyfriend. We had a great trip ! It was like being part of a family, and both Nelson and Rafa made the work easy, and took their time to tell us about the city and surrounding area. The work is as agreed upon, and is simple to understand. The hostel is quite calm in wintertime, so if you're looking for a big and busy place, it probably won't be for you (at least not in winter). I'll definitely be back again !!
