This experience wasn't what I expected and I'm honestly surprised at all of the 5-star reviews. The facilities are dirty and unhygienic. I was also disappointed in the lack of food available. Basic items (bread, eggs, milk, fruit, yogurt, cheese) were limited or not provided. The work was more physically demanding than I expected—trimming trees, washing exterior building walls, moving heavy items up/down stairs, etc. There isn't much to do in Mysen and the train to Oslo is $40 round trip. On a positive note, Helene is very kind. The volunteer hours are flexible and well respected.

We have put someone to clean now so hopefully that will stay better from now on. However I dont remember you cutting trees (small bushes yes), or moving things in the stairs. I always put the person I think will fit for the task and will be okay with the task, however I also let people change task if they think its too heavy. Maybe I didnt communicate that too well with you and for that I am sorry. I have generally said that people can change tasks if they dont like it for whatever reason

Sleeping in the cinema was nice and overall it was an interesting experience. It was our first time volunteering, so we didn't really know how it all works and unfortunately, our host didn't explained it to us too much. We worked only 4 hours a day, and the tasks were not difficult. We met many people there, the day we left there were more than 10 volunteers which might be too much for someone but you have always someone to chat with. The nature around the area is beautiful, but there isn't much to do in Mysen. If you want to see more nature or towns you need to take a bike or bus.
