I felt very comfortable during my 2 weeks with Helene and the other volunteers. The work is very easy and changes all the time. It's basically painting and organising the place as best as we can. I spent my free time with painting, reeding, chatting to the other volunteers, watching movies in the cinema or experimenting in the kitchen to make vegan cheese for example. I also went to Oslo and got to stay at a apartment of the parents for free :) All in all a very lovely and chill Experience! Thank you so much🫶🏻🫶🏻

Helene is very kind. The working hours are respected, and I mostly only work with other volunteer. I had the possibility to stay in their house in Oslo for the weekend, watch movies in the home cinema and learn about how to install a wooden floor. It was nice! There were always food at the house, but not a big variety - I always took a look at the expiration date. Moreover, it was quite dirty. All in all, I had a great time with the other volunteers and can recommend this place to travelers.

If you wanna meet new people from all around the world this is a good place for it. the work is pretty easy, but not very versatile, i painted everyday, which got pretty boring. but helene is nice and if you aren't happy with your work you can just ask her and she will find something else for you to do. you have your own room that is pretty basic and most of the rooms only have curtains as doors. the house is very messy and dirty, not the rooms people sleep in though. helene's parents own a house in oslo, where you can stay on the weekends, which is wonderful.

I overall had a really nice time staying in Mysen. The best thing was definitely the people I met there, as there were also many other volunteers there during my stay! The working hours were very flexible, the work was also mostly pretty easy. Evenings were spent together cooking in the kitchen, doing karaoke or playing games. On the weekends Helene let us stay in her apartment in Oslo. On the other hand some things could be improved. At times there was not so much food in the fridge and some volunteers bought their own food. The place in general can also appear to be a bit chaotic and messy

I had wonderful time in Mysen. I met meny amazing people and visited a lot of beautiful places. The work was light and the hours were very flexible. I could start work whenever I wanted and if I wanted to have more days off I could work more on other days. The room I slept in was also very nice. It had a curtain as a door but there was a heater inside. One thing that could be improved was the food. There were suposed to be three meals a day but it was quite imposible to cook them without buying some suplies. There should be more basic ingridients because there were many volunteers.

I really enjoyed my stay at Mysen. The atmosphere Helen has created was so warm and sincere. Helen herself is very kind and flexible person - no start or finish hour, you can wake up whenever you want and start working, you can take more hours one day to have another one free. But there were some weaker points of the stay, and by that I mean mostly the food. It was hard to cook just from the stuff in the fridges, they often lacked basic products. Also I didn't like how we were to use some strong chemicals without protection or even a warning. But after all I do recommend the host

The work was enriching—I met amazing people, learned a lot, and enjoyed flexible tasks and cozy social moments like the small cinema. Helene was engaging. However, the place was often messy and unhygienic, with flies in the kitchen. The “private” room lacked real privacy. Meals were insufficient and unbalanced, and at one point someone even ate food that had expired five years earlier because it was still in the fridge. Safety was also a concern, with tasks like rooftop work and handling chemicals without proper protection. Great people, but future volunteers should be cautious.

Volunteering in Mysen was interesting but had several downsides. Food was provided but often not enough for about 15 volunteers, so some had to buy their own. Helene seemed to take in more people than she could manage, which affected accommodation — some stayed in a basement, and one “room” was just a walk-through space with curtain dividers. Overall, fine for a short stay of one to two weeks, but overcrowding and planning issues made it less comfortable.

Hi, the room in the basement was already agreed upon before she arrived and I didnt place her there without her awareness (that one person had to pass her room in the night). Also, witht he food, I have talked to people here and they dont allow me to buy the food for them even when I offered it, so I allow them to buy their own food if they want. I cant really do more than that, they do what they want at the end of the day. All I need is the communication and I will help or buy whats needed.

It was a good experience and I could work all the hours I expected. There were only too much volunteers I think. Food was finished to quickly and some of the colenteers didn't clean up after them so for example the shower wasn't that clean...

I agree things here neded up not being that clean and it surprised me as much as anyone else how much people dont clean after themselves. But now we have inplemented someone to clean the areas so that its better. I would prefer people to clean after themselves, but because of the variation of people and customs, now we have someone to help with cleaning every day. Also about the food we have bought bigger amounts of food in storage so the food doesnt need refilling as fast!
