I truly had the best time at the lodge! I stayed in a super cozy shared house with the other volunteers and met so many lovely people there. The workload was super low so I had a lot of free time to go on hikes and visit all the beaches and spots around. The host Chris also took us on some fun exploring trips which was super cool :) This place felt a bit like home to me and I almost didn't want to leave. Thank you Chris and James for everything!

This is my first experience with volunteering with Worldpackers and I loved it. The place is chill, we do not work hard at all, the hosts are amazing and willing to teach and explain if you need. I just can't say how much I appreciate the opportunity to make this experience so highly recommended. The work is super light so don't worry if you don't have much of experience with housekeeping, they are super close to the beach and nice spots in the West Coast. Thank you for everything Chris and James. :)

My time at the lodge will be cherished forever! I met so many incredible people. Chris and James were amazing hosts. Taking people into town for food, driving us to great beaches for bonfires, cave exploration, mussel harvesting, this list goes on and on. I'm so grateful I applied for this opportunity. It truly exceeded all expectations! I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to explore the South Island and make lifetime connections!

I spent almost 3 weeks at the lodge & they were absolutely amazing. The manager Chris was wonderful. He knows the right balance between leaving volunteers to explore & nurture relationships amongst one another to themselves while also offering to take us into to town & show us places we likely would not have found on our own. He helped support local businesses with his recommendations to us. The work load was more than manageable; there wasn't a single day that it took us longer than an hour & a half to have everything cleaned & ready for guests. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone!

This was my first world packers experience and definitely exceeded all my expectations! The work was always explained clearly and did not take long to complete. I met some great people and got to explore the beautiful surrounding area. Chris and James were amazing hosts and even took us on some fun adventures. The punga pad (staff accommodation) has a cozy vibe and began to feel like home. I would definitely recommend this experience!

This was one of the best experiences I've had traveling! The work was easy, 1-2 hours a day in the morning begining at 10 am. Lodging was cozy and Chris and James were fantastic, some of the best kindest and most giving people I've met. I truly feel like I have a friend in each of them as well as the other volunteers I met there and I've made memories to last a lifetime. 100% do this!!

My experience at the lodge was absolutely unforgettable. I was able to meet so many people there, for whom I am so grateful. The work is easy. We work in groups, so we only have to work for about an hour a day. Chris is a great host. He shows us the coolest things in the area. I've seen blue Penguins and Seals and heard a Kiwi Bird. However, the living situation is not the best. The bathroom becomes too small with more than 4 people. Although we are allowed to use the utilities of the house across but this is a guest house. But all in all, I would absolutely recommend this experience.

I stayed at the lodge for a month and it was an unforgettable experience for me and my sister. Chris and James are good hearted people, who will make you feel welcome and Punakaiki will become your second home🫶🏼. Tasks are focused on housekeeping, they normally take maximum 1-2 hours and you can enjoy the rest of your day in the beautiful West coast. During this stay, you will meet a lot of volunteers from all over the world, so you have a chance to create friendships, which can last for a life time. I recommend this place, we would definitely like to come back.

I loved this place, the people, even the work. Chris especially was wonderful showing all the volunteers beautiful places and experiences. The work is quick and efficient, and allows plenty of time to appreciate the surroundings, conversations with other volunteers from around the world, or whatever else one might want to do. I definitely recommend this experience! ❤️
