What an amazing first world packer's experience! From the moment I arrived Chris couldn't do enough, he is so kind & hard working! He really looked out for us, from workload to taking us on evenings out to all of the secret spots! The west coast is a beautiful place to explore! The work is easy/quick between 1.5-2 hrs a day especially with more hands on deck. The only thing to note was that is doesn't seem usual to have a day off, though Chris did say it could be arranged (but it didn't seem right considering he hasn't had one himself in over a year & the work is minimal so you don't mind)

Chris was very helpful since we started contacted. We started work from 10am until everything done normally 11:30- noon. He and James took us to local markets, beach and shopping. If you have a car is better to explore but it's ok even don't become amazing beach and pancakes rocks are walkable distance. I don't have a car too I met wonderful volunteers here and we had great Christmas dinner together. We also did someday trips and it was amazing. I had already plan to move. If not, I would like to welcome my first sunrise with those wonderful teams. Thanks guys and wish you guys all the best.

Lovely wonderful fulfilling experience! I absolutely recommend, I booked to stay a month and ended up staying for 5 weeks as I was having a really great time. Chris the manager took us to secret spots which were amazing every single time! A car is handy but not absolutely necessary as someone will be going to town at some point and you can tag along. Beautiful area, so peaceful and after 2 months in Auckland is exactly what I wanted.

Wow, just wow! What a beautiful experience. When I arrived I was the only volunteer for a week which can sound scary but it was the opposite in this case! Chris was the best host ever and we went for adventures together (and with Marley the doggo💕) or he gave me tips what to do after work every day. The volunteer house is also super cool, so much to do even indoors on rainy days. The work is super chill. The nature around is beautiful ! The beach is only 5 minute walk! Chris is such a amazing human and he made my experience unforgettable❤️I truly felt at home.

I cannot speak highly enough about my time at the lodge. I echo all of the other reviews on how amazing Chris is. He is so kind, helpful and fun. He would take us on adventures during his downtime and was so knowledgeable for all our questions. He may joke he doesn't like people but embodies the absolute opposite. If you're there with staff from other countries I suggest asking him about the song challenge. I was lucky enough to meet some lifelong friends in Chris and the other staff. Our weather wasn't ideal but Punakaiki was still gorgeous and I'm sure I'll be back at some point.

I had a great stay. Chris is an amazing host. He showed us around the area and when we had a problem he always helped us out no matter what. The work is fairly easy and it never took us longer than 1-2h to do the tasks. Would highly recommend coming here. Miss it already:)

My stay at the lodge was amazing. Chris is one of the nicest person I have ever meet. He took us to a lot if his secret/favorite spots and helped us with everything. He is also great in communicating what made the work there pretty easy. The work itself is easy and light. I would definitly recommond coming here.

I had so much fun at this experience! Chris, the host, was lovely - and would take you on little journeys including on nature tours around the place. It is a very cozy place to live in with both four dorm beds and private rooms. We did about thirty minutes of work everyday and then had the rest of the day off, including going down to the beach and for walks :)

I loved my stay here. The accomodation was small but really cozy & comfortable and perfect for connecting with nature. The girls I stayed with, Alina, Julia and Bean were truely lovely people and so was our host, Chris! The work wasn't hard at all.
