We had the most amazing time at the lodge. Chris is the nicest person ever and his generosity did not go unnoticed!! He would frequently take us to hidden spots and cool locations during his free time. The work is very light and every day we would have the whole afternoon off to do whatever we want eg. Going on a hike or heading to the beach. Would recommend to anyone considering this.

This was an amazing experience. Chris was a great host and made me feel welcome and part of the family. I volunteered in the winter and the work load was light and enjoyable. There is volunteer lodging which is comfortable and feels like home. Highlights: team work with the other volunteer during work hours. Making friends. Morning cuddles with Molly (dog), magical adventures with Chris and the other volunteers. Discovering secrets beaches, visiting caves and finding penguins/seals. Just 10 mins to the beach to see the sunset each afternoon was the perfect ending to the day.

Most amazing experience!! Chris was a kind, generous and overall incredible host. Taking us for adventures in the area, penguin spotting, glow worm caving and boating trips. I stayed in Punga pad, a house on the property meant for staff, it was cozy, homey and had everything we needed. Work was easy and finished in under 2 hours, leaving you the entire rest of the day for adventures. Marley was a highlight of the trip being the cutest puppy dog you'll ever meet. Overall this was my first experience as a worldpacker and one I'll never forget! I absolutely recommend!!!

I enjoyed my stay at the lodge. Chris is an absolutely lovely man who will look after you well and make you feel at home. The work is very minimal which gives you plenty time to explore the area. It's a really gorgeous area, there isn't loads to do but the things you can do are fun and very scenic. It can be very social as you will be with other volunteers which is fun. The living spaces are quite small and cramped but if you're okay with that then you'll have a fab time!

I stayed for 1.5 months – my first volunteering experience – and I honestly can't imagine a better one. The work was easy, the nature around was magical, and the people… unforgettable. We lived together in the Punga Pad (felt like home) shared meals, laughed nonstop, watched way too much trash TV, and became like a family within days. Chris felt like a dad to us – always kind, calm, and caring. I learned so much about New Zealand, other people, and myself. I came as a volunteer and left with a second home in the rainforest. Thank you Chris and James for making this experience unforgettable!

My experience at the lodge has been more than just fun. It's been an unique and educational adventure. The Host, Chris has played his role as a welcoming and supportive father to the wild bunch that was the team, I had the honour to work with. He embodies honesty, integrity and trust like no other. It was my pleasure to lern from him. With work being done in barely an hour I had more than enough time to enjoy the beautiful nature surrounding our the lodge, which for a while had become my home. We got to do various fun activities with some of the most amazing people I have met in NZ.

There was no spot for me as I applied. But Chris proposed me to come a few weeks later, and so I did. I had the opportunity to stay at least two weeks at the lodge. I really appreciate that Chris was very flexible with the dates of arrival/departure. The volunteers can leave whenever they want, and even if I found a job for this period, I stayed until the end to fulfill my agreement. Chris is someone who it is easy to talk with; he is not resentful at all. Amazing perk for a volunterring: you will only work 30min to 1h30 per day, which is very chill. You can ask for a day off/week :)

Have had such a fab experience at the lodge. All volunteers live in a shared house where we play games, watch movies and go exploring together. Everyone was extremely nice and the work was easy. Chris made sure to set us up for success with clear expectations, making our work easier for us and being flexible when we wanted to take an overnight trip. This is a wonderful location and I'm leaving with great friends and memories.

This was the experience of a lifetime! The location is incredible and I spent a lot of time connecting with nature. All the other volunteers were amazing and I made connections that I will never forget. The workload itself is super light, and the staff accommodation is very cozy and comfortable. I absolutely loved this experience and can recommend it to anyone! Thank you Chris and James, you are both incredible!!

My first worldpackers experience and I fear I may be hooked now. Chris was a truly incredible host, he is real and direct which i loved and had great humour and kindness. The work is very manageable and divided fairly. The time you work can range from 30 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes depending on what needs doing. I met the greatest group of volunteers while there that i will miss dearly. I will hopefully be returning soon, can't stay away from Marley (chris's dog) too long, miss him already.
