I would absolutely recommend the school for the experience. The hostel is very warm, feels like a sharehouse and the staff is so kind and flexible. The work itself and working hours are fair and gives you plenty of time to visit around. Also, having a room to yourself is a huge plus! Unfortunately I had to leave earlier than expected, but my time there was so enjoyable, thank you so much for everything :)

I like this place so much! I made a lot of friends. This location is between the school and Kyoto, which is really nice. And work is not hard , organized, people are friendly , and I can have a private room! This is the best for me ! I really recommend!

I had such a great experience at the school, the working hours it's perfect and you get a private room which is unbelievable! Hirakata is such a calm and lovely place, you will be between the school and Kyoto which is really convenient to go to those two places. The team at the school is so nice and I'll miss them a lot, pretty sure I'll have a lovely time and recommend anyone that is planning to go to japan.

I had an amazing time at the school! The staff is super friendly and I felt welcome the very first moment! The house offers both private rooms and a cozy social area where I connected with locals and people from all over the world. We went to karaoke, on hikes, visited izakaya and parks, played games, and had so much fun just hanging out! Working hours (about 3 hours on weekdays) were totally fair too and left plenty of time to explore Kyoto, the school, and Nara. Even Hirakata itself is a beautiful, local area. Thank you so much the school for the great time! I'll definitely come back! 😊

My wife Megan and I had an amazing time volunteering at the school! We met so many cool people here, especially the other volunteers. It was great to stay in Hirakata and relax, while also having great access to other places in Kansai. The tasks are very reasonable (cleaning, blogging, etc) and we had lots of free time. Audrey and Ai-chan make this place great and you will feel right at home! This was our first Worldpackers experience and I don't think it will ever be topped!

Really thankful to the school staff, they were super nice, friendly, understanding and respectful. The other volunteers were also great, and we spent such good times together. I would highly recommend the school for anyone interested in visiting Kansai area (Kyoto, the school, Ise, Koya-san etc), it is super convient. There are also a lot of nice Pastry and bakeries around the house :) I would definitely recommend the school!! :)

The school was super chill! Every volunteer gets a private room, and there's a cozy lounge with film nights, Wii/PS2, and an awesome massage chair! Bathrooms are decent too. Ai-Chan & Audrey (Managers) are amazing and the other volunteers made the stay even better. The work is very light: usually 1.5h/day (sometimes up to 3h if there are few volunteers), mostly easy cleaning of common spaces and guest rooms, plus some odd jobs. Had an amazing 5/5 stay, would definitely recommend it to everyone!

I loved my stay at the school! I helped them build the website and with other marketing tasks. It was super reasonable and I really enjoyed working on the project. Everyone at the house is incredibly nice, I felt like home from the first day. The location is perfect, around 30 min from both the school and Kyoto, and about an hour from Nara. So it was great to explore the area, but still come back to a nice and quiet time in Hirakata.

If you're looking for a place to find international community, volunteering at the school is perfect! The friendships I've made here have expanded my worldview and made Hirakata a home away from home. I'm very thankful to have been part of this wonderful and hard-working team. Ai-chan and Audrey are so welcoming and kind -- I recommend karaoke with these two:). Thank you also to Hide-san for your generosity! Hirakata is a great little city to explore, and also a great home base if you want to explore the school/Kyoto areas. The work and hours are simple and manageable. Would and will come again:)
