Worst hostel i've ever worked , never been treated o horribly. lied about my job, forced me to clean instead of being the bartender which i actually applied for. got bed bugs, charged as much as guest for extra things and treated so so badly. other volunteers quit on the spot due to the treatment, expectations which were high despite not being trained for anything and worked like. a dog

El hostal en general se encuentra muy bien y cumple con todo lo acordado, solo que no fue el indicado para mi, las tareas en general son bastante pesadas y en algunas situaciones te puede tocar hacerlas sin ayuda del staff por lo que hace la carga más pesada. Repito, al final la experiencia no fue lo que esperaba pero sin duda habrá gente que le encantará por todas las ventajas que este ofrece.

Staff were lovely and we got on with them well. Tasks were varied as were shift times, meaning you got to try different aspects of running a hostel and got to work with different people each time. I would recommend knowing some Spanish to communicate with cleaning/kitchen staff, however you can definitely get by (as we did) and maybe even learn some along the way :)

Tenía un muy buen tiempo en el hostel! Antes todo, eran los empleados del hostel que me facilitaron mucho llegar e integrarme ahí, todos son muy amables y abiertos a nueva gente.😊 Aparte de esto, siempre había desayunos y cenas muy ricos, sólo estuvo un poco decepcionante que los voluntarios, siempre teníamos que llegar últimos por la cena, por esto ya estuvo frío dos veces...🫤 El aspecto que crítico más es la habitación en la que durmimos los voluntarios: era más pequeña que las demás y no tenía ventana. Pero en comparación con el resto, no era grave😄🤷🏼‍♂️

We had an amazing time at the hostel. We felt really comfortable, especially because of the very welcoming staff and the other great volunteers. It's a really cool hostel where it's easy to socialize and San Cristóbal is a beautiful city worth staying a while. We would recommend everyone who thinks about volunteering at a hostel, to stay here. :)

Mi tiempo en the hostel Hostal fue corto, pero muy bien! Los voluntarios y los huéspedes fueron muy amable y hice muchas conexiones especiales. Aparte de algunos desequilibrios entre las tareas en los turnos, el trabajo fue tranquilo y consigues mucha comida y bebidas gratis.

Esta es, con diferencia, una de las mejores experiencias de voluntariado que he tenido nunca, el albergue es sencillamente genial, todos los miembros del personal, así como los dos jefes, son estupendos ✌🏻Sans sin olvidar a todas las personas que se ocupan del desayuno, las comidas y, por supuesto, la limpieza (mención especial a Juanita y Maura).

El hostel fue increíblemente mejor de lo que imaginé. San Cris es precioso, muy cultural y con una energía muy linda que se puede disfrutar apenas llegas y este voluntariado te permite poder conocerlo y vivirlo, ya que el horario es cómodo. Las tareas son sencillas y con interacción con los huéspedes; necesitas saber un poco de inglés (igual siempre estás acompañade). Puedes conocer muchas personas y nacionalidades ahí, ya que es un hostal grande. Se hace fiesta ahí mismo. La gente que trabaja es lejos lo mejor! son muy amables, respetuosos, flexibles y te hacen parte. Les agradezco ♾️ 🤍

It was a great experience to have had the chance to meet and share some time with Josefa. She's a great person and always willing to help and support the team with all of the different activities we have. All the staff and our guests felt very happy and comfortable with her around, so we definitely recommend her to any host. Thanks Josefa for all of your help and hope to see you some other time again. I really enjoyed my stay at the hostel, the hostel is beautiful, social, and full of activities and the city has amazing vibes! The tasks and hours are fair and the staff is nice and helpful, althought I would have preferred a warmer welcome - the host never introduced himself to me and the staff seemed a bit distant at first - and in general I felt a vibe of separate levels between staff / volunteers / guests, probably cause the hostel is very big. Anyway I had a lot of fun and extened my stay for an extra week!
