Vela Tradizionale - Tall ship Pandora

To live in a boat, Just as a crew member, Is quite new for a lot of people. We'll have to share spaces, linked together with the weather changes during the weeks. It improve a lot the spirit of adaptation and the capacity to share spaces. The work should be hard but we propose It even smiling. Pandora Is a ship but not a Cruise ship, we'll stay together in a wooden boat, most time linked to the dock, not sailing. For sure flexibility and adapting to different timing and way of life will help to be immerse in our salty world. Anyway It should happen that the boat should not be available because of work making on and we'll stay in and house close to La Spezia about 15 Min by car. In that case the house Is immerse in the nature, we have a lot of space but you can reach places only by bus if we don't manage to bring you by car in your free time.

We are an association and for this reason all of us Is a volunteer, our willing Is to improve the exchange of cultures and "way to do". We love stay together during the meals, we love hear and play good music, and we are very devoted to our vessel, which we take care of as best we can.

Waow ! What an incredible experience ! You are welcome for an immersion in Fanja, Lucas and Damiano's sea world. This month was amazing : navigation with dolphins🐬, work in a shipyard⛵, friendly diners with lovely people 🥰... So much memories I will never forget.
The work was intense and demanding : you have to be flexible and available because it's an out of the ordinary mission for a great cause : enable children to navigate on Pandora, a floating jewellery. It's important to cope with their way of working and living. If you do, you will enjoy an EXTRAORDINARY experience ✨❤️.

For my first experience as a volunteer, Fanja, Lucas and Gancho 🐶 have set the bar really high! I am truly happy i had the opportunity to live and learn with them for almost a month. I feel like i have found another family here in italy, they are really funny and nice people.
You will need a few days to adapt a little to their life, you must be ready to work, it is not a "chill" experience, there is a real project with the boats of the association and you are here to help for real ! I came here without any experience, so really ok for beginners, y'oull learn a lot! Can't wait to come back 🫶

Of all my Worldpackers experiences, this was my most meaningful. Fanja, Luca, and the rest of the crew do the most to make you feel part of the family. The work we did was at times tiring, but never too difficult or intimidating. And the food makes it all worth it! Fanja and Luca are very understanding and want you to have the best time. I learned a lot about ships, woodworking, and working with tools and I learned a lot about how to live with intention. They live and work in a particular way, be prepared to adjust your own schedule and attitude to theirs, it will be worth it!

My experience volunteering was not the best.
From the beginning there was a lack of communication.
I waited three hours to arrive, without prior notice.
Living with the hosts was difficult.
His attitude generated a tense atmosphere.
It did not favor the stay
It was difficult for me to adapt and feel welcome.
The best thing was meeting two volunteers.
I formed a great friendship with them.
Thanks to your support, the stay improved.
They made the days more bearable.
The environment was kinder to them.
I appreciate the opportunity to have participated.

I had a really meaningful and exiting experience at Vela tradizionale! Fanja and Lucca are really caring and kind people. I learnt a lot from them not only about boat building, but also about my own path in life. I met alot of new people, some of them who are now my friends. But even when majority of the time it was an amazing experience, I want to be honest and say, it was not all perfect. I personally found adjusting to cultrual diffrences hard, and not understanding the language was at times frustrating. I’d reccomend this experience to people who are intrested in sailing :)
