Vela Tradizionale - Tall ship Pandora

To live in a boat, Just as a crew member, Is quite new for a lot of people. We'll have to share spaces, linked together with the weather changes during the weeks. It improve a lot the spirit of adaptation and the capacity to share spaces. The work should be hard but we propose It even smiling. Pandora Is a ship but not a Cruise ship, we'll stay together in a wooden boat, most time linked to the dock, not sailing. For sure flexibility and adapting to different timing and way of life will help to be immerse in our salty world. Anyway It should happen that the boat should not be available because of work making on and we'll stay in and house close to La Spezia about 15 Min by car. In that case the house Is immerse in the nature, we have a lot of space but you can reach places only by bus if we don't manage to bring you by car in your free time.

We are an association and for this reason all of us Is a volunteer, our willing Is to improve the exchange of cultures and "way to do". We love stay together during the meals, we love hear and play good music, and we are very devoted to our vessel, which we take care of as best we can.

The best two weeks of my life 🥰 Working on boats and living on one was such a fun and interesting experience! Luca and Fanja are amazing people, and I truly feel like I made real connections and friends. We had so much fun, the work was always interesting, and I learned a lot about woodworking. I definitely want to go back.⛵️

I had the pleasure of joining Luca and Fanja a board of Pandora as my first Worldpackers experience and it couldn't have left me a better impression of how cool volunteering can be.
Luca and Fanja (and Gancho!) are very friendly, welcoming and understanding! The only bad part was leaving ✌️

Fanja and Luca are really amazing and very passion driven people. They are true craftsmen with a lot of stuff to teach you, as well as a lot of advice and suggestions on how to spend your free time. Furthermore they have a really great team behind them, who really allows you to immerse in the true local experience of La Spezia, and italian culture. They respect the working hours, and are very flexible in case you want to do something which may require them to reschedule their plans a bit, as long as you let them know in advance. Very strong recommendation.

I had a good time at Fanja and Luca's place, even if it wasn't that long. The two are very nice and interesting people who have always taken good care of us. It is a good experience to get to know the surroundings from a local perspective and to get to know their special way of life in a large community. The work is very different from day to day and you have to be a bit flexible, but the two try to create a good balance between working time and free time. Sometimes communication is a bit difficult, but it is very doable. Overall it is definitely a special place that is worth getting to know:)
