Semillas Life

It is very important for us to find different ways to promote the development and progress of the less privileged communities in the Peruvian Amazon. We focus on education, environment, ecotourism, public health and cultural exchange.
We believe that working together with these communities in developing different skills for its people and creating new job opportunities, not only will help to reduce poverty but to reduce activities that are destroying the Amazon Rainforest such as, illegal logging or illegal/legal gold mining with strong contaminating chemicals.
Protecting the Amazon should be a global commitment because of its incalculable biological and ecological value.

I, Christian Navarro, am the founder and CEO of the NGO Semillas Life. I currently live in Germany but work full-time for Semillas Life. After 5 years living in the Peruvian Amazon, I decided to move to Germany with my Peruvian/German family. I am in charge of recruiting new volunteers, creating new projects, connecting with other organizations, and more. However, Semillas Life is a team made up of Anne Pönisch, Dora Anco, Hans Gstir, Angelo De Los Santos, Erik Del Aguila, Mirco Espinoza and other collaborators. volu. This team works in Peru with our international volunteers to provide them with an excellent experience during their stay with us.

There are major problems that need to be addressed. The information provided beforehand is not up to date. The location indicated on Worldpackers is wrong, there is no german teaching, no english teaching for higher classes and it is frustrating to see how volunteers arrive with a small surprise. We also never met the host in person and was giving instructions through WhatsApp, failing to notice our problems and complaints. The trips however were amazing and the deal is fair, yet it feels more like a tour company than it being a non profit organization. I hope for good changes in the future.

Recomendado 1000%

I had a great experience volunteering at Semillas Life. The other volunteers were very relaxed and friendly, and we shared many activities together, which made the time even more enjoyable. The children at the local school are amazing, and I am confident that teaching them English will open up valuable opportunities for their future. Codo del Pozuzo is a small authentic Peruvian town surrounded by beautiful nature.

I had an amazing experience volunteering with Semillas Life. The people were incredibly kind, and I had so much fun. I discovered and learned a lot about the local nature, and I had the chance to engage with the local community. Teaching English to the children at the school was incredibly rewarding, and playing with them brought me so much joy. The feeling of being able to help others was truly fulfilling. I’m very grateful for this amazing experience!

My experience at Semillas Life was a bit different than I expected. Because of the pictures on the profile, you might get the impression, that there are a lot of international travellers and that there are a lot of things to do. However, in my case, this did not correspond to reality. I‘ve been living alone in the cabin for allmost weeks and it was quite boring. In Codo there was not much to do and I often felt lonely and useless during this project. However, Christian always had an open ear for my problems and was very collaborative. Also Hans and Dora are very kind and caring people.
