I stayed with this host in Osaka for a while and had a good experience. The place is simple but comfortable, and it has everything you need. Osaka itself is amazing, with so much to see and do once you're off shift. The work is easy to manage: straightforward tasks that help keep everything running smoothly, without being stressful. It’s not the most unique setup, but it’s a great option if you’re looking for a place to stay while exploring the city and lending a hand. Plus, it’s a nice opportunity to meet people from all over the world and share experiences.

I stayed at peace house for about a month with my partner. The manager even provided us with a privat room. The work was fine and I could engage in a lot of conversations with people from all over the world. .
I can really recommend this experience if you want to see Kobe, Kyoto, Nara, etc.
You only have to work 3 days a week, so you have plenty of time to visit all those cities

It was my first WP experience and I highly recommend it ! Peace house Showa was a very nice place to live in, I will definitely come back. Very cosy, warm and full of wonderful people. The atmosphere is really unique, I met people every day from everywhere. I’m not the social kind at first, but I got used to it pretty quickly and easily. You still have time to visit the surroundings on your days off. I had time for a full 4 day trip to Tokyo ! The manager is okay with switching shifts however you prefer with the other volunteers.
Thank you Shu, Kenji and my new friends at Peace House :)

The Hostel is located in one of the rougher neighborhoods in Japan but it's very safe and close to Shinsekai, Dotonbori, and Nipponbashi. Shu-san was very kind, and the work isn't very hard. You spend about half the shift doing basic housekeeping tasks, and the rest of the time is just waiting around for guests to check in. The vibe of the hostel is pretty laid back. The furnishings for both staff and guests are pretty basic, and the airflow in the staff room isn't that good, but the beds are pretty comfortable and I slept well. All the staff were friendly.

I hope Daniel gets better soon. The problem with the staff room is the air circulation (੭;´ ꒫`)੭

I stayed at Peace House Showa for a month and had a very nice time! I met people from all around the world. Thank you to the kind locals who helped me practice Japanese and for their conversations and tips around Osaka. Shu-san always helped if I had questions and the other volunteers were super nice too. I will miss it all.

The hostel itself is located very close to two major subway lines, a 24h grocery store, and Shinsekai. Because of the flexibility of the work schedule, I got to see a lot of Osaka! The shifts were more than manageable because of staff overlap and speedy communication.
