OEH Osaka English House

Great location: between Osaka and Kyoto. You can easily go sightseeing in both cities. Perfect starting point for your new journey in Japan. Most of our former residents who wanted to stay longer in Japan eventually found jobs while staying with us.

Osaka English House is a co-living space created to promote an immersive language exchange environment for foreigners and Japanese alike. Volunteers will have the opportunity to fully experience day to day life with Japanese people. We would like to warmly welcome folks who are hardworking, friendly and want to meet a ton of cool people. With only a few hours of work per week and simple cleaning tasks, there is plenty of time to explore the area and the neighboring cities. If you have any talents or any work specialization related to business or language learning, we would love to have you on our team. We welcome both solo travelers and couples. We can’t wait to meet you!

I enjoyed my 3 weeks volunteering at OEH. The staff is really nice (Audrey & Ai) and I really enjoyed befriending other volunteers plus some of the cool guests who stayed at for a couple of days or longer.

The tasks consist of cleaning rooms &/or common spaces, then you had time to yourself to go exploring, although since I was staying here from June going into July, sometimes it became too hot to go outside so you found ways to relax inside.

I recommend this Worldpackers experience for anyone staying in the Osaka and Kyoto area.

I would absolutely recommend OEH for the experience. The hostel is very warm, feels like a sharehouse and the staff is so kind and flexible. The work itself and working hours are fair and gives you plenty of time to visit around. Also, having a room to yourself is a huge plus!
Unfortunately I had to leave earlier than expected, but my time there was so enjoyable, thank you so much for everything :)

I like this place so much! I made a lot of friends. This location is between Osaka and Kyoto, which is really nice. And work is not hard , organized, people are friendly , and I can have a private room! This is the best for me ! I really recommend!

I had such a great experience at OEH, the working hours it’s perfect and you get a private room which is unbelievable!
Hirakata is such a calm and lovely place, you will be between Osaka and Kyoto which is really convenient to go to those two places. The team at OEH is so nice and I’ll miss them a lot, pretty sure I’ll have a lovely time and recommend anyone that is planning to go to japan.

I had an amazing time at OEH! The staff is super friendly and I felt welcome the very first moment! The house offers both private rooms and a cozy social area where I connected with locals and people from all over the world. We went to karaoke, on hikes, visited izakaya and parks, played games, and had so much fun just hanging out! Working hours (about 3 hours on weekdays) were totally fair too and left plenty of time to explore Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara. Even Hirakata itself is a beautiful, local area. Thank you so much OEH for the great time! I’ll definitely come back! 😊
