Inverness Student Hotel

We have an awesome team, great location and have a good craic! Inverness is the capital of the Highlands and a great base camp if you want to explore the beautiful wilderness that is the Highlands! We're bus rides away from the famous Loch Ness to go monster hunting, waterfalls, hiking, walking, landmark visiting and spectacular scenery viewing! We're also the start and end point of the Great Glen Way for avid walkers and provide a well needed kip, hot shower and brew for the well travelled adventurer.

We have got several sister hostels to across Bonnie Scotland, so if you help for an extra shift you get a free night in any of our other hostels on your days off! That includes in Edinburgh, Scotland's captital!

You will receive full training upon arrival and welcomed like family into our Highland home :) We're a very fun and cosy team, who loves to welcome people, you'll love it in here! We often gather for dinners, game nights, head into town together to enjoy the famous Scottish music and dancing and explore Scotland together. Inverness has lots to offer and you're sure to meet some pretty cool people along the way here <3.

My stay at Inverness Student Hotel ended abruptly without warning, mediation, or discussion. Communication and support from the management were insufficient and inconsistent, making tasks and collaboration challenging. The dorm was disorganised and unprepared. I felt unwelcome, excluded, and disrespected throughout my stay. The host could improve by using non-violent communication techniques, clear instructions, and inclusive support for volunteers with diverse learning or communication styles. Future volunteers may find it helpful to clarify expectations and proceed with caution.

A very good volunteering that exceeded our expectations in many ways, the work becomes very enjoyable and we almost always finished much earlier we deeply appreciate the opportunity to have known such a pleasant place 🫶🏻

I loved my stay at the Inverness Student Hotel! Inverness is a beautiful city and a great base to explore the Highlands. The housekeeping tasks are simple and the tasks and shifts are always communicated clearly. The lovely management team and volunteers truly made this cozy place feel like a second home and I can‘t wait to hopefully come back soon! <3

My stay at the student hotel was a lot of fun! We worked 6 days/week for a few hours each. The work was easy enough, and the rest of the day was mine to explore the area. There are nice walks along the river, lots of unique shops, and everything is within walking distance. Some nights we played cards, we went to karaoke, and some nights we chilled. Overall, it was what I agreed to and I had a great time.

I've volunteered at many different hostels already and this one is in my top 3.

The working hours were very fair, the tasks were repetitive and easy. I also never worked alone, which was a great plus and it was possible to finish the morning shifts earlier. The conditions of living were nice, the staff beds and the bathroom were really comfortable. I loved the evenings we shared together, the atmosphere in general was very homely and chill. The localisation of the hostel couldn't be better, too. I enjoyed everything!
