Fridhem
Fridhem is at the heart of the small traditional village of Stjärnsund, Dalarna. We are a holistic retreat and course centre and there are lots of interesting people who have been drawn to live here. We have a large old course building from 1890 and a two hectare forest garden that are great places to learn practical skills.
Our centre has a 1GB fiber internet connection which makes it ideal for volunteers who need good connectivity during their travels.
We are a small team and you'll be most welcome to contribute your skills and enthusiasm. We have regular Yoga, Qigong and Dance events you can participate in.

My experience at Fridhem was magical. I met some of the most amazing people, both fellow volunteers and locals and I learned something from everyone. The nature is amazing and there's so many things you can do and experience. I really loved working in the garden, hours are flexible so that you can enjoy your time around and everyone is always ready to help you if you need it.
I truly raccomend this experience to everyone, it was an unforgettable month!

Silvia is calm and with that comes deep caring for her surroundings. With the people around her but also her environment. Silvia took good care and responsibility of the garden. The volunteers who lived with her will miss all the laughs and quiet moments in the kitchen, the baking, the smell of coffee, her generosity. Silvia will be missed and is ALWAYS welcome to come back to recharge, to surrender to catch some breaths when life becomes to scheduled. Keep your spontaneity. -by Gigi

I had an incredible time at Fridhem and was lucky enough that the folk festival was on the first few days that I was there. Kelsey made me feel super welcome. I primarily did marketing, but I was also able to help in the garden and do some light cleaning and cooking during the Monday meetings. On the afternoons and weekends, I went swimming in the lake, walking in the forest. Additionally, I also got to try bow shooting, yoga, ceramics, women’s circle, live music, among many other things. I miss Fridhem, the community and the fellow volunteers already and would highly recommend it ❤️

Fridhem is a magical place that can provide an escape from the rush of busy life to everyone! The people are kind and caring, the village is quaint and beautiful and the nature is stunning. Completely recommend <3

Annabelle navigated skillfully through traveling surprises. She came at the perfect time to enjoy some of the most beautiful concerts and music of the year! She easily got along with everyone and was happy to help. Wish her a wonderful time in her next adventure in Oslo.

My experience in Hedemora was really positive.
I had time to connect with myself, enjoy the moment, and take in some amazing views.
I met some great volunteers and locals, and I was able to connect with them and learn a lot just by spending time together.
One of the best parts for me was the football matches, which happened almost twice a week.
I loved playing with both kids and adults — everyone was super friendly and welcoming to me.
This experience will stay with me for a long time.
It really helped me reflect and set some goals for my future.

Ivan arrived to a totally new environment and was open to trying and experiencing everything. Very kind and relaxed he got along with everyone. Ivan was working during the days but still took so much initiative to help out even though he had filled his volunteer hours. He was always willing to help and was good at finding solutions! Grateful we could offer him an retreat from the city. Thank you Ivan

I had almost no idea of gardening before I came to Fridhem – which was no problem, because the inhabitants of the community showed my all I had to know. I had a very warm welcoming by the other volunteers and community inhabitants. Lovely people I had a bunch of interesting conversations with. It was my first time living in a spiritual community with all the yoga and some rituals. Very inspiring! Single thing to criticize are the prices for laundry and pick up – not what I expected for volunteering. Nevertheless: Stjärnsund is a incredibly lively village surrounded by beautiful nature!

Göran arrived open-minded and ready to learn all about gardening. He spent so much time in the garden with his hands in the earth, even on weekends and days off- he really got into it and developed his green skills. We were inspired by his initiative to get out and explore, take long hikes even making it all around the lake nearby. He always took time to appreciate and enjoy the nature opportunities around him. Thank you for all your help.
