Finca Corbera

Eco-farm in Corbera d'Ebre, Tarragona (10 hectares, non-commercial)
We focus on permaculture: creating gardens, caring for plants, doing light construction work with wood (and sometimes cement if you enjoy it), and setting up water systems.

When it's too hot outside, you can help renovate the old Spanish masía indoors — it's much cooler there.

We don't work extremely hard, but we do work consistently. The working hours are flexible — you can spread them throughout the day depending on the season. However we do start early in the summer and it is expected to be on time. In the afternoon we often dont work and possibly doing an hour in the evening.

*Accommodation
There is one simple caravan with shade screens. In addition, there are private tents available for volunteers. At night you will hear the foxes screeching and occasionally a wild boar passing by. The facilities are basic: compost toilet and outdoor shower. It is wonderfully peaceful here — you only know it's Saturday when the mountain bikers pass by. Otherwise, you lose track of what day it is.

*Food
Volunteers pay for their own food. Anything growing in the garden is free to use.

The working hours are not strict. If the work is heavy, just work an hour less. The focus here is on learning, not on putting in as many hours as possible.

*Pickup
I can pick you up from the train station or bus stop. If you're nearby, I can also pick you up.
Please keep in mind that this involves costs — the car doesn't run on unicorn tears.

IMPORTANT.
What to bring with you: Pair of safety shoes The ones with a reinforced nose. We have rough terrain here. Any other shoes will be destroyed within 1-2 weeks. plus it is for your safety. Please keep in mind: Farms are dangerous places.

People pay in general for their own food. dont worry about this. if you are low on money, let me know, im sure we work things out. Especially if you are from South -and central America.
Interested in joining?

Feel free to apply! 😊

I work from home , so i have to divide the attention between "working for the man" and my farm. My dog Milka keeps me good company. If volunteers can help me out a little, im happy.

I had a good experience here. I came to do some physical work while having time for reading and reflection, and this place gave me that. I usually worked the agreed hours, which suited me well. The host has a good sense of humor and theres a sweet dog with a funny obsession for licking knees.
Its fair to say this place is not for everyone: food is provided only once or twice a week, political discussions can be provocative, the host sometimes speaks critically about past volunteers and garden work is more about "feeling" than structure. Overall, rewarding if you come with the right mindset

"political discussions can be provocative," Like your strong opinion that parents can only have children if approved/certified by the government? :))

Food is only provided once/twice a week? Complete nonsense. There is 150 kilo of food on my farm, oil barrels full of food, rice , beans, everything. Refrigerator full of vegetables/yogurt. Belgian waffles I made for you.

The host sometimes speaks critically about past volunteers > To explain mistakes+why we do things in certain way.

My experience at Finca Corbera was mixed. The place is beautiful and perfect for anyone seeking peace in nature. Tasks were manageable but repetitive, mainly watering plants. Edo speaks some Spanish but communicated only in English, which was disappointing. The volunteer group was very small, so social interaction was limited. Edo is open but sometimes harsh during work. Volunteers are responsible for their own food, but the nearest supermarket is several hours away on foot, so it is essential to shop before arriving at the finca. Good for quiet stays, less so for social or varied experiences.

It wasn’t clear you expected Spanish communication, as we spoke in English, even before you came to the farm. and you didn’t use Spanish with me or asked me to. I bought you long pants at my own expense. I also covered your food costs and you did not pay for the transportation to -and from the train station, meaning your stay was entirely cost-free. you happen to forget to pay 20E for your food and transport. Short stays limit the opportunity to teach complex skills, so tasks remained simple.

What a valuable experience! I learned about the basics of maintaining and contributing to a eco-farm. New skills learned about cementing and wood work.

The place reflects simple life and really offers an off-grid experience in the middle of nature. Perfect if you want to retreat and disconnect but bring bug spray :P.

Edo is an honest and friendly guy. Clear communication in the best intrest of the volunteer. There is a lot of space for you to learn.

Around the work there is enough space to connect with other volunteers and the surrounding nature. I recommend to pay a visit here :)

Every time I pass by that mountain of rocks you moved and stacked by the masia, Im still amazed. You can not only climb mountains....you can also move them. :))

What really happened:

During his time as a volunteer at our farm, Maximiliano (age 40) contributed to various tasks. Unfortunately, we noticed that his interactions with another volunteer (age 20) were repeatedly perceived as uncomfortable, despite being addressed. To ensure a safe and respectful environment for everyone, we decided to end the collaboration. We wish Maximiliano success in future endeavors.

My time at the finca was an absolute blast! The other volunteers were great and we instantly connected. Edo always had interesting conversations, fun anecdotes, and a joke ready to keep morale up.

The work was based on our interests, and since there was plenty to choose from, Edo let us do what we preferred. The workload was light, and I learned a lot about gardening and construction while enjoying a beautiful experience away from the chaos of the city. Highly recommend if you’re looking to enjoy the peace of nature for a while!
