As my first volunteer experience, the hostel sets the bar for me. The place and location and oh the people behind it.. I love them! I can say we created a friendship I'd treasure in my heart! Everything worked out in terms of my stay with them. Except with the meal distribution. We were provided actual meals for breakfast and thought it'll be the same for lunch and dinner but it's meal allowance instead that is given to us unless we asked for it (repeatedly) which tbh, I'm not comfortable doing but had to. It would be better if they would improve on that area

The hostel is in a great location in Hanoi. The team is so great to work with. The accomodate is super super comfortable you won't be disappointed! I was able to help extensively with their marketing, design and operations, as we worked there from opening. It is brand new, opening in June '25. The hostel offers many tours around North Vietnam and Hanoi and they will assist you to book experiences to expand your journey.

This hostel was a great place to learn about the locals and the food. We had almost a month with them and it was like we were part of the family. They helped me when I was sick. They were very understanding and open to some changes. Life was good in the hostel. You won't regret your choice to work here.

The hostel has a lot of potential. The location is central, the accommodation is nice and modern, and all the staff are genuinely so kind and welcoming. That said, there were some major organizational and communication issues while I was there, largely due to a recent shift in management. Both volunteers and staff were affected and frustrated with this. With time and more intention I believe things will improve and they'll be more prepared to host volunteers. I think changes were starting to happen as I was leaving, and overall it was a good place to be based for a while.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback and for everything you did during your time with us! We truly appreciate your understanding during our management transition.

Since then, Rebel Rooster has made many positive changes — communication and organization have improved a lot. Emily was such a kind, proactive, and supportive volunteer, always ready to help whenever needed. We’re really grateful for your contribution, and you’re always welcome back anytime!

I had a great time at the hostel! Every staff member was incredibly nice, and I had so much fun with them as well as with the other volunteers. I also couldn't have asked for better accommodations: the rooms are really comfy, clean and safe. The only area that could use some improvement was, in my opinion, the organization. To be fair, the hostel had just gone through a management change when I arrived, so I believe that with a little time, things can get better. Overall, it was still a great volunteering experience, and I truly wish everyone I met there the best!

We were lucky to have her as part of our team at Rebel Rooster. She is not only an amazing cook — her pancakes are unforgettable — but also very skilled at keeping things organized in the kitchen and beyond. She always brought a positive and helpful energy, and it was a real pleasure working alongside her. Any place would be lucky to have her around!
