Description
Contributions help maintain the land and gardens, support organic staple foods and nourishing meals, and provide tools and resources for hands-on learning. They ensure a meaningful, sustainable experience for all participants, while making this opportunity accessible despite New Zealand’s high food costs, the Otago region’s living expenses, and current economic challenges.
What you get

- Days off per week
- Have some time off for yourself, go explore the city or rest for a while.
- Private Room
- You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.
- Tent
- You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.
- Breakfast
- You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
- Lunch
- You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.
- Dinner
- You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.
- Basic Internet Access
- Basic speed internet for you to work remotely
- Free Laundry
- You can use our laundry room freely.
- Free Hiking Tours
- We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!
- Bikes at your disposal
- You can use our bikes any time you want.
- Pick Up
- We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.
- Support
- Get help from the Worldpackers support team in case you need it, at any point of your trip.

The Experience
Sanctuary offers a meaningful, hands-on experience in organic farming, regenerative ecology, and community connection. Participants learn practical skills, contribute to the care of the land, and grow alongside others, while enjoying fresh, seasonal meals and life in rhythm with nature, fostering a supportive, values-driven environment and a lasting connection to the earth.

From the moment I arrived I was welcomed into their family and had the most amazing time with them for the 2 weeks I was there. They are such a beautiful little family, and it was a privilege to be able to be a part of it. Their property comes with such a great vision for the future and really walks the walk too, I really look forward to coming back and seeing their development in the future. I came in wanting to become more grounded and I really got that working with the land and the gorgeous area. The all-organic meals were absolutely delicious too! Thank you for having me <3
