The Experience
Volunteer at Breakwater Hostel, Newquay! Help with cleaning, laundry, and welcoming guests while creating a friendly atmosphere. In return, enjoy free shared accommodation, breakfast, and plenty of time to surf, explore Cornwall, and meet travellers. 15 hrs/week, flexible shifts. No experience needed just bring a positive attitude!

I loved my time at the hostel!! I was there during off season so te hostel and the town were definitely quiet but i met a lot of other volunteers and had a great time!

I'm really glad this was my first WP experience, Harry and Tom are super welcoming, the whole team got along, and it was easy to catch on to the way the hostel works. Volunteering at the hostel during the off season was really easygoing, schedules were super flexible (& exactly what was agreed upon), and the team is really supportive of you going out and doing/exploring as much as you can. There were so many opportunities for bonding, it felt like a little family :)

Tom and Harry were absolutely amazing hosts!! They both are so chill, friendly and of course hilarious ha ha ha! The hostel is a chill relaxed vibes hostel when I volunteered in the off season in Newquay but apparently can get super social in summers (which I'd love to see too!). All the other volunteers are so cool too and we regularly go out for drinks or surfs (boogie board for some hehe me) or just some card games and movies in. All of this hostel's volunteers and friends are like a big cool family!! Imma miss this place thank youuuu and ps byeeee erikkk (Harry's mum's the dog)❤️❤️❤️

This was our first stop, and it set the bar high. The work was simple, two shifts a week cleaning or painting. As for the bosses - Harry became our fun uncle, took us under his wing, matched our humor, and even cooked a Thanksgiving feast. Tom was the welcoming team dad who planned outings and genuinely cared about everyone. I've never laughed harder or met cooler people than this past month. Thanks, Tom and Harry for giving us a second home. We'll be back (even if you don't want us). I truly can't recommend the hostel enough.

The hostel is top-tier. Our first Worldpackers gig and it set the bar high—welcoming, inclusive, and instantly homey. Harry (techy fun chef uncle) and Tom (social glue with a cleaning obsession) are the legends who keep the place running on charm and laughs. Work is easy and flexible, the staff space is great, and the volunteers become your built-in crew. Perfect location near town and beaches. Even winter was worth it here. If you're thinking about applying, do it. Huge thanks to Harry, Tom, and the volunteers for an unforgettable five weeks. Already dreaming about a Newquay summer!
