I had a great time at the home. The family was very welcoming and caring. We did some trips to nearby destinations which was awesome! Though, when I was there there was no work to do. But I enjoyed it😊

I had the best time thanks to Anoj, Upeksha and family. They were all so welcoming and made me feel part of the family from day one. If you want to experience local culture this was definitely the perfect place for it. I enjoyed visiting the temple and trying new foods. The nature was beautiful and I hope to come back some day πŸ₯° thank you guys

This place really rased the standars for all the worldpacker volunteers! I do not have words to describe how amazing this place, the people and the nature is!! We almost didn't work at all, we just chilled and enjoyed the peacefullness! Upeksha and Anoj took such good care of us, they are so incredible people, so welcoming, so attentive, i am missing them a lot while writing this 😭😭 i really wish i could go back at some point! If you come, make sure to prin some long pants and long sleeve, sometimes it gets colder at night 😊

Such a beautiful, calm and regenerating experience! Upeksha cared for us volunteers as her sisters. Upeksha and Anoj and his parents are all wonderful people, super easy to get along with. Their space is tranquil and absolutely gorgeous, the mountains and tea plantations surrounding their beautiful home. With some luck you can see some animals. You can learn a lot from these people as they are very knowledgeable and intelligent. I hope all volunteers coming here acknowledge your hospitality and care and respect you for it! I hope to be back one day to witness your achievements! All the love!

I had the most amazing time being hosted by Anoj, Upeksha, and Anoj's parents. The house is in the most gorgeous mountains filled with tea gardens, it's so stunning. The food they prepared was so delicious everyday, and they worked so hard to make me gluten free options also. It was a truly magical experience and I will forever cherish the sisterhood that Upeksha, the other volunteers and I shared. We felt a bit bad that we hardly did any work but they kept wanting us to relax and have a memorable experience. They would take us on excursions to see the local way of life too, which was so kind

Really loved our stay with the hosts. Felt like home during our whole stay. We got delicous meals everyday and really enjoyed staying near nature. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming. We even made nice trips to the waterfalls and visiting the vegetable garden. In total, we had a very good time there and can really recommend staying there!

My first volunteer experience have been great thanks to the amazing hospitality of Anoj and Upeksha. They are very kind, attentive and willing to help. They opened the doors of their beautiful and cozy home, sharing their culture and way of local life.Toddyland is a perfect peaceful place surrounded by nature where you disconnect from the world and reconnect with yourself. Work is simple and enjoyable, we helped on the vegetable garden and planted banana trees. We also did hiking and visited Buddha temple for meditation. Highly recommend! Upeshka is very lovely as the other reviews say. But also as other reviews say, there was no work to do and nothing to help with. I really wanted to help do something during my time and instead I felt a bit like I wasted the week. I asked to help cook a lot and never got to. I get the impression there is never any work to do there. So if you want to go and relax somewhere in the middle of nowhere where you'll have to spend a lot of time on buses then you might be happy - just pack warm clothes! Upeshka did help give advice and took us out one day, it just really wasn't what I was promised

Too sad they gave me a no-show review, but i just send proof of my stay to worldpackers so here is my honest review that might be useful to anyone thinking coming here. Pros: -Upeksha was nice and helpful -The meals were tasty -You experience living with local ppl Cons: -No hot water -Bedroom has a strong smell of mould -Mattress was very bad and sagging -too many leeches, got all my clothes with blood -nothing to explore nearby, 2.5 hours to nuwara actually. -cockroaches wandering in kitchen -no volunteering activity I actually counted my days there and called my mom it's fine, but lied.

Let us be clear: you came to a volunteer site, not a five-star hotel.
β€’ We never promised hot water.
β€’ You argued with another volonteer girl during the Pekoe Trail.
β€’ Leeches are common here; this is natural in our wet zone.
β€’ Your clothes were spread in the lobby.
β€’ You often woke at 11 am and ate very late.b.fast 12pmπŸ₯΄
β€’ You never cleaned your dishes.
β€’ You spoke loudly on the phone.
We took you to a tea factory, hikes, and English classes. If you slept all day, how could we assign you tasks

I had the most wonderful time during my stay with Upeksha, Anoj and their lovely family. It has been a breath of fresh air taking time to immerse myself in the beautiful nature and countryside of Mahaweligama, falling asleep to the sounds of the birds and crickets! During my stay, I helped plant my own coconut tree, which was a really special experience, and I have also helped with the home - preparing land, planting vegetables etc. I have also had free time to relax around the property, go for a walk and explore, and we have eaten such delicious traditional food. I would highly recommend!!
