The hosts are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. The experience is an opportunity to dive into the local culture and learn about Sri Lanka in a way you wouldn't from a paid tour or hotel stay. The hosts are working hard to develop their home which is beautiful and in the middle of Sri Lankan jungle. I could not recommend this experience enough if you enter with an open mind and willingness to learn.

I've had an incredible time staying at Anoj's place. Thank you so much to you and your family for welcoming me into your home. I feel fortunate to have been part of your daily life these past few days. Being surrounded by nature was a gift in itself. The leeches reminded me of home, back in Vietnam! And cockroaches, or one might say, the eternal tenants of the Earth! The village was a joy to explore. Everyone I met, whether on the street or during a ride on the local bus, greeted me with smiles. There's more to discover here than you might expect at first glance, only if you're open to it.

If you like nature and hiking, this is the place for you! I went to see some waterfalls, hiked some stages of the Pekoe trail and even did a day trip to Adams Peak! When I was there, there was no work to do (I suspect they don't really have work for the volunteers in general). We joined Upeksha on Sunday to help her teach English to local school children which was very cute. Otherwise you can just chill and relax here as well, it's a really quiet and peaceful place. Upeksha is such a lovely and caring woman, she really helped us with everything. Also the food they serve is extremly delicious.

I'm grateful for the chance to experience authentic life in the village. Upeksha and Anoj are really kind and helpful people and I got much advice about what to do in the area. Unfortunately it was the monsoon season and heavy raining all the time. It was challenging but I still managed to enjoy the stay by slowing down and spending time alone in wild. I wouldn't call it volunteering tho, since there wasn't work to be done, more like homestay.

This was my first Worldpackers location ever, and I had the best time! Upeksha and Anoj are super welcoming and warm people. They are incredibly sweet and oh my god, they can cook so well! I'm already missing the food 🥲 Even though the weather wasn't perfect, I learned so much about their lives and Sri Lankan culture. On my last day, we even went on a road trip to their local monastery and tea factory, which was so interesting and fun. It truly felt like having parents for a few days. Thank you so much for everything! ❤️

I had the best week at Anoj's and Upeksha's wonderful home! They made me feel so welcome and took me along to all their daily tasks and outings (which was really great to see a true local side of Sri Lanka). They also put in so much effort to show us the local highlights, like the tea factory, waterfalls and temples. The food Upeksha and her family prepared was heavenly and it was so peaceful and relaxing! Because of the weather and season there wasn't much to do in the garden but I went along to help with some of Upeksha's english lessons which was such a nice experience, 100% recommend!

I am so grateful to Upeksha, Anoj and their family for welcoming me and being so generous. I had a peaceful and restful time with delicious meals prepared with so much care. I helped make lanterns for the Vesak Buddhist festival and joined the celebrations which is a memory I'll treasure forever! Upeksha took me to see temples and a tea factory where I learnt a lot! At times I wished I could have been given more work to do to fulfil my part of the exchange but relaxing is encouraged here :) Upeksha is a very inspiring woman and I feel lucky to have had this experience in Sri Lanka! Thank you❤️

Ahh, I'm so beyond beyond grateful for this amazing experience. I would recommend this to everyone who wants to get a break from all the stressy traveling and wants to connect with nature, local people and amazing other travelers. We did wonderful hikes, explored nearby places and I had a peaceful time to reconnect to myself in this wonderful surrounding. This was just such a gift and the Host Upeshka, the wife of Anoj was such a welcoming and caring person. So glad I got the chance to meet her. She cooked amazing food and made sure everything was organized and we are comfortable. Thank YOU<3

The home was the most special experience! Upeshka, Anoj and their family are so welcoming and kind. It definitely felt more like a homestay than volunteering- but I really liked this! The food was amazing and we did some amazing day trips- it will always have a special place in my heart :)

With my friend Jaime we came across the small farm of Anoj and Upeksha a little by chance and we discovered a gem of nature. In the middle of tea plantations and mountainous landscapes. The calm of this place allowed me to take time for myself, to crochet again, to draw, to discover the neighbouring villages like Hatton or Nuwara Eliya, and to immerse myself in the local culture while being able to help from time to time. Every day we ended up with good dishes prepared with love for us, we are grateful for what this has brought us and for the warm welcome. Thanks for everything <3 Lisa
