The Experience

As a retreat worker you would be involved in all aspects of keeping the retreat center running. This can include tasks such as cleaning rooms/cabins, laundry, handling recycling and garbage, watering plants, mowing the lawn, as well as other tasks such as cutting firewood, small building projects and land art. We usually work Mon-Fri for 20 hours per week but are flexible. We serve 3 meals a day and can accommodate different diets.

Michael and his family welcomed us with incredible warmth and treated us like part of their own family. They always made sure we felt comfortable and at home — my partner even got a beautiful birthday cake! The work was fair and varied, and we learned a lot of new skills. Shaun cooked delicious meals three times a day and even shared his recipes with us. Because of the remote location, they kindly let us use one of their cars. We truly had a wonderful time and felt very appreciated. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Workaway experience. Feel free to message us!

The hosts made me feel unwelcome, dismissed my concerns, and yelled at me when I wanted to leave. There is a word limit, but feel free to message me if you want more information.

Michael replied

We did try to address her concerns. Elizabeth had an accident off site and as a result we spent the entire night at the hospital. We wish her well.
