I spent three weeks learning and working with two incredible plants: açaí and bamboo. We made (and ate) açaí often, prepared açaí seeds for crafts and made bamboo spoons and straws. Dias is incredibly kind and knowledgeable, and has lots to share about art, education and local social projects, music and culture (and açaí and bamboo!). It was an enriching experience—we shared many delicious meals and interesting conversations (best fish barbeque ever!). The location is about 30 minutes from the city center/riverfront in Alter do Chão, but we enjoyed the more authentic atmosphere. Best, Tarn
