Front desk & admin staff at our peaceful cabins

I had a good time staying at the lodge! If you are looking to meet nice and warm volunteers from all around the world, this is the place to be! If you are looking to explore the Rockies, having your own viechel will make a complete different experience. The work here is simple but repetitive, the admin role sometimes could be quite demanding. The cabin is bit ran down and nested in the woods, so the accommodation and facilities won't be the best. The host Nathan is the nicest guy, always willing to help, drive us around and get us groceries. Thanks so much for having me! 🤗🙏💖🌸

My experience in the lodge was good. I was able to practice my English, which was the main goal of this trip. I also met some amazing people and went hiking with beautiful views. The downside of this place is that it's literally in the middle of the mountains, the only way to get around is by hitchhiking on the road, which can be quite difficult—especially if you're a man (unfortunately). It's also important to mention that you're not always guaranteed a bed inside a cabin. Many times, you'll end up sleeping in a tent which isn't very pleasant due to the cold nights and a lot of mosquitoes!

Great time in the lodge especially with a nice team of volunteers ! Without them I think it will be too boring because we are little bit stuck without a car. So we did some hitchike or find Poparide to go to different places during our days off. The work was okay, I did housekeeping 9:30 to at the latest 3 pm. Nathan is busy but he took some times to drop off us in different places when he can, so thanks for that. We don't meet the owner, Jim. If you have a car you will enjoy this place ! Just a lot of mosquitos this year 😬 for a first volunteer experience it was really nice !

My experience here was good. Nathan and Lilia are very kind people. At first, I slept in a tent and didn't like it because of the cold, but a week later, I was already in the staff cabin. They probably need a wider variety of food for breakfast and lunch. the lodge are far from the town of Golden and the tourist spots, making it difficult to make trips (however, Nathan always offered to take us there). As for housekeeping, I only did it a few times because my job changed to being in the office to make reservations and do laundry. It was a challenge for me since my English is basic.

I enjoyed my time at the lodge, the work was fine & the scenery is very nice and the vibe is really peaceful. Nathan was a great and thoughtful manager that made sure I had a great time and was looked after. Only a few things let it down from being a 5 star review. During my stay there were several prolonged plumbing issues that were not addressed professionally on the property, I did not have proper access to a running tap. It is worth noting that there is not much to see nearby and there is no consistent transport, you will have to hitchhike from the HWY.

Nathan and Lilia were so kind and welcoming, always on hand to help with any issues and just really nice to chat with. The work was quite simple but could be demanding at times. The admin role definitely had more responsibilities and felt like more of a full on role. The accommodation could've been better as staying in a tent with a shared bathroom in the office wasn't always ideal. That being said, I made some good friends here and the location is beautiful! A great first stop for my year in Canada :)

The lodge is a special place to volunteer and one I'll always remember. Jim, Nathan and Lilia were welcoming, easygoing and supportive. The work was straightforward, and the working hours were upheld. There is a focus on making it a positive experience ✨️

I loved my time at the lodge so much. I think one of the best things was meeting all of the international travellers also volunteering there. I went on some great hikes in the area and saw some of the nicest views. On this topic I would want to make any future volunteers aware that these hikes are a drive away, not on the doorstep - but the managers at the time were open to dropping us off at local trail heads so this wasn't so much of a problem. I saw the Aurora twice while I was there and the milky way was so visible with the lack of light pollution in the area. A truly great experience!

Volunteering at the lodge was a fantastic experience. Jim is an incredible host, always making sure you feel welcome and comfortable. Nathan and Lilia the managers were supportive and easygoing. The work itself was straightforward which leaves plenty of time to relax and enjoy the surroundings. One of the highlights was the food. The volunteers each take turns to cook which really adds to the experience. The only drawback is that it is located quite far away from Golden so if you don't have a car you have to hitchhike or rely on other volunteers or managers for lifts.
