I really liked the experience here. The place is very cool and peaceful, and working on the boat was very pleasant. I had a great time with Denis and his family. I was there during the low season, so the atmosphere was quite peaceful. I helped out for about three hours a day on the boat during the sunset the boat, and the rest of the day was free. The hotel is a bit far from the city center, but they offer free boat shuttles, and I was able to rent a bike to get around. I met some wonderful people and enjoyed a week surrounded by calm and nature.

Simple tasks on the the boat. I got to engage with guests while working and enjoying the boat meantime. The accommodation is basic : comfortable mattress and hot showers. Do note that the distance from hostel to the pier where volunteers work is 2.2km. The manager and 1 of the staffs speak English however, there's not much communication besides task related matters. It's quite a challenge to communicate with the rest despite they are nice and smiling due to language barrier. It's a good match if you're in search of exchange of accommodation while travelling slowly in this beautiful place

This experience was a bit underwhelming. Tasks were simple, repetitive, and eventually became boring. The lack of introduction or engagement from management made the atmosphere feel awkward and distant. Accommodation was very basic: cold showers, no real windows, frequent bugs, and early noise from animals. In exchange, we received a bed and a 25% discount on pricy food, with no basics like coffee at least. While the staff was friendly, communication was challenging. There were no meaningful opportunities to learn more about the culture, and it didn't feel like volunteers were really needed.

It felt a bit strange, we were never introduced to the owner or staff, and tasks were assigned by another volunteer. The owner was apparently around but never engaged with us. I expected to work on the boat, but instead I was asked to teach English and work on marketing, while my boyfriend worked on the boat at completely different times. The accommodation was very basic — just a bed in a shared with other travelers bamboo hut doorm. Noisy roosters at 5am, and often loud rain. No food was provided, a 25% discount at an already overpriced restaurant. I didn't learn much from the experience tbh

Volunteering with SaSa was a great way to get involved! Upon arriving Alycia gave clear info about the company and expectations. Being on the boat was fun socially- between the local staff and meeting other travelers. Denise is wonderful and has implemented several sustainability practices. We were asked to help with the dinner party and teach English, which wasn't in our initial job description but ended up being so much fun! However, there was a daily boat to get to work but it was only working 1/5 days, and the boat manager Sing wasn't helpful when we needed clarification/translation help.
