Volunteering at the community was educational and truly rewarding! Joe and the community team were extremely welcoming and friendly! Our tasks were fun and diverse, from assisting with school tours to helping with social media. The team were also so open to hearing about our ideas and skillsets and accommodate to those. I also learnt a lot about Malaysia and its culture through the cooking class, language class, days out, conversations and people. As well as the great food from Nora and modern accommodation, I would definitely recommend this experience!!

I spent over 6 weeks at the community, and during this time I learned a lot about textile waste management and recycling, which we also helped to pass on to students. We also got to know about Malaysian culture, up close, thanks to the locals' hospitality. The staff is very helpful and always available. The food is wonderful and they always took care of my special dietary needs (vegan). The factory, the office and the comfortable, hotel-quality accomodation are located in the same building next to a highway, but thanks to the car they provided us, we were able to explore the area.

I was there during the setup and was on the media team. The work is quite corporate (laptops 9-4pm) but we also did a factory tour, cooking/sewing lessons, helping the school tours throughout the weeks. The accommodation is fantastic and Nora cooks brilliant food. We were lucky and had multiple volunteers who could drive the company cars, so did lots of outings after work and in the weekends since you can't leave the complex by foot. Would have to Grab otherwise! The other volunteers and the program head Joe made the experience incredible. I've also learnt so much about textile recycling 💚

I had the pleasure of working with everyone to support efforts in reducing textile waste, promoting sustainable fashion, and raising awareness. Together We contributed by putting our skills to service, and generated valuable data and resources to pass onto the next round of volunteers. The accommodation provided is very comfortable with a homey vibe, though it is in an isolated area. Fortunately, company cars were available, allowing us to explore and enjoy activities nearby. I strongly recommend this experience to anyone looking to contribute to a noble cause and make a meaningful impact.

My time at Upcycle 4 Better was amazing! This was by far the most luxurious volunteer experience I've had. The volunteers were all very friendly and kind, and Joe was always ready to help and light up the room. The food was incredible, I learned a lot, and I truly enjoyed my time there. One of the best volunteers I ever done!

Volunteering here was such an amazing experience. I really felt like I was part of something meaningful — learning so much about sustainability and the textile industry along the way. My main role was growing UB4 social media, but I also loved helping out during tours, classes, and brainstorming new ideas with the team. Living there was super comfortable, and the food cooked for us was just incredible. I honestly couldn't recommend this place more — it's the perfect opportunity to learn, grow, and be part of a project with a truly inspiring mission.

I really enjoyed being a volunteer at the community and helping to set up the programme here! This mostly involved working on a laptop in an office-like environment, but there were also plenty of engaging activities integrated into the volunteering time (e.g., to learn about textile recovery and upcycling and also Malaysian culture and language). The other volunteers were lovely, we had a lot of fun together. The accommodation was very comfortable - I felt safe and they were able to accommodate for a vegan diet. The staff team and host are kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely care about the programme!

I'm truly glad for being part of this project, it helped to develop environment awareness and understand more about the textile industry. It changed my mindset regarding consumption. It was a pleasure helping with the school tours. The accomodation is incredibly comfy, spacious and neat, full of amenities. Nora cooks delicious meals! ☺️ Location isn't good for walking, as it's near the port, but a car is provided (international DL is required). We even did day trips to KL, Port Dickson & Malacca, besides exploring the nearby area. The locals & team are kind and welcoming. I recommend the community! ♻️

I had a really good time in Klang! All the people I met were amazing and kind - we had so much fun with the other volunteers and also with the staff working there. The accommodation feels very luxurious, especially after having stayed at hostels for a while (Nora, the private cook, definitely contributes to that). Since the program is still getting developed a big part of the work was finding structures and strategies that work well. This was challenging to figure out but also had big learning potential in terms of program development as well as general business development.

Experience in U4B was unique and informative. All office and factory employees were very welcoming and helped me as a volunteer, I am grateful to them for all the support and patience ❤️ I met amazing volunteers from different countries with which we had fun. I learned a lot about the recycling and upcycling of textiles. Separately, I would like to thank Barry for a beautiful place for volunteers, it is very simple and cozy and Nora for delicious dishes. I recommend to all volunteers you will spend time unforgettable and useful. I hope that I will be able to return again as soon as possible 😊
