The Experience

Welcome to my house. Our house is in Xiangtan located beside a famous scenic spot . This town is surrounded by mountains, lush jungles, bamboos, and vast rice fields. And we would like to introduce you to the local culture and help organize your visits to places worth visiting nearby the town. I am looking for one volunteer to help teaching my boy, or do some housework. If you can teach play musical instruments (such as piano, ukulele), sports

Stayed at Susie's place for 5 weeks and really enjoyed it. Having the opportunity to live with a Chinese family and immerse yourself in real Chinese culture itself makes the homestay worth it. Meanwhile, Susie understands cultural differences and is very adaptable. I recommend staying at Susie's for a longer duration as it will allow you to develop a closer relationship with Susie and her very kind family, and make the stay more worthwhile. As my first worldpackers experience, it couldn't have gone much better-highly recommend.

This experience was really great. I was received in their home in Shanghai (上海) and then moved to Dalian (大连). They have always been respectful, welcoming and really put effort on offering a good place to stay, as well that they spent time to teach me about Northern and general culture, food and history of China. I totally recommend this volunteering for someone passioned for education and trying to get involved more deeply with Chinese life style.

⸻ I really felt at home during my stay here. Susie is incredibly kind and welcoming, and I had the chance to get to know her lovely family as well. Her mother cooked us some delicious meals that made me feel so cared for. I also spent time with the little boy, who is not only very smart but also so passionate about soldiers—it was truly fun teaching him, and I actually learned a lot from him too! This experience was warm, meaningful, and unforgettable. Thank you so much for everything!

I had a good time with the kids teaching them Tennis and piano at their grandparents house near Hangzhou. At times it definitely felt like that there was not a lot to do in the village and communication usually functioned via Translator app. Everyone involved, from the kids to the grandparents and parents were super kind, welcoming and accommodating. If you want to really know how day to day life in China feels like, this is an amazing experience.

Susie was really helpful in helping me obtaining my visa and with anything I needed during my stay. I would recommend it to those that want to practice Chinese and/or learn about every-day life. She may change plans last-minute, but everything can be discussed and agreed upon.
